Cpl_Saint Posted February 27, 2008 Share Posted February 27, 2008 I like how they're looking so far, but I'm not sure the skull helmets are the way to go for mark V. I was always under the impression that the dual-tube helmets with the more baroque arch to the mouth grille were the modern iteration of Codex/'Heresy' armour. Apologies for offsite link; but this is the one I mean: http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php?...products_id=379 Mark V was a stop-gap measure, and thus not really mass-produced in the quantities of marks IV and VI. I'd imagine there were lots of experimental variants of mark V; much more so than the others. Indeed, the accompanying background to the first sculpt mentioned that the helmet was a spin-off of the terminator helm. You'd certainly find the suggested helm easier to source, and they complement the external tubing and vertical grilling of the mark V torsos you're using well. It'd have the additional benefit that they won't look like Chaos Marines (my immediate reaction on seeing the Skull helmet variants). Either way, they're looking very nice so far. While the twin piped heads are close to what I want, the chaos helmets are more in line with what I think the Mk5's should look like. It came down to the helmet looking a bit off when I converted it how I wanted it, removing the raised part on the head and removing one of the rows of cabling, it didn't have the same texture of the chaos helmets. I've done the highlights on these and washed the others with the brown wash, these ones too. The highlights are a bit thick and a bit rushed, but I think they'll do for back row rank and file. I usually pic mine out with a spot of boltgun metal too, just because. Grenades look good too, I do mine boltgun metal for frags and catachan green for kraks, seem like good nuetral colors that fit on anybody really.
