Cut them to size and fit them inside the indented part of the chest panels (it'll look neat!) and then try and attach them around the shins vertically. I think the dread needs some knee joints, it's legs are way too stiff and that throws the hips off level badly making the whole thing look tipped over. The chapter known as the Sons of Jhukan were originally one of a number of experiments carried out in utmost secrecy by a faction in the Inquisition trying to breed a different type of space marine. The chapter was sent to a world of relative seclusion, on the far side of the galaxy, near Kar Duniash. This was done so as to attract as little attention as possible to the experiment in progress. Because of the close ties to the Inquisition, the Sons of Jhukan took after them, being aggressive seekers of information and leading to several heated discussions on how to interpret Imperial law. Being a relatively new chapter, the Sons were comprised of a company of veterans and a large number of new recruits. On an excursion off-world, a small expedition found a withered marine in ancient armour hiding in a cave. The expiditionary team were torn on how to proceed; the scouts wanted to question him, while the older, more experienced chaplain could sense something amiss, the taint of Chaos clung to the battered form of the marine. They decided to send the ancient marine back to the chapter fortress for interrogation. Loading the marine as carefully as they could, they gauged his age to be roughly 10,000 years old, which would have meant he had been active in the time of the Heresy. Wanting to be sure that they could get all of the valuable information that they could, they used the fiercest tortures that were known to them. Despite their tireless efforts, the marine spoke only of penance and seeking forgiveness. One thing he did let slip was a name. The chapter, conducting itself as it always had, made note of the name in it's report to the Inquisition, who were still monitoring them. Though the name meant nothing to the inquisitors, it meant everything to a lowly scribe in their employ. He and a team of servitors had been secretly sifting through Imperial records for any mention or description of a certain group of marines. The name of the traitor itself was enough to send a chill down the spine of each member of the Inner Circle. A strike force, disguized as an inspection team, was sent to the Sons homeworld. While they distracted the majority of the base by being brash and impertinent, pompously demanding to see various things and generally being disruptive, the rest of the team struck. Power generators and communications arrays were destroyed first, cutting off any chance to call in their reinforcements. The main fortress was easy to take, since the majority of the chapter were spread across the continent, setting up outposts and supply depots. Each was overrun then razed in short order. The Dark Angels could allow no knowledge of the Fallen to escape, and the large pyres burned long into the night. When the expedition returned, their homeworld was now a blackened, soot covered one. Of the enemy who had so thoroughly destroyed their bretherin there was no sign. The chapter survived though; the mourning survivors painted their armour black to honour their dead brothers, the new recruits were allowed to retain the original colours, for they had not been present for the discovery. The survivors strive tirelessly to find out any information regarding the attackers, but have also learned to use similar hit and run tactics to sew confusion among their enemies. As for the current whereabouts of the chapter, some say that they reclaimed their world, others say they travel through space, recruiting as needed. As for the shinpads, well ill admit they're not that crash hot but ive done them, and im reasonably pleased with them, so i think they'll stay. i like them, and i think thats what counts in the end, though i can see its a matter of taste. Also, thanks NemFX for fluff reworking, theres some pretty good ideas in that and ill get back to you (promise), ive got some ideas to bounce off you. Id like to thank all those people who have been nice to me about my painting, its great encouragement + it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. as for updates, i've done the white and teal quartering of the second termy, and it only took about an hour (its a bit messier, i tried doing it a litle differently). will post pictures later. I also like the detailing and free hand that you did, really makes them stand out. BTW, what color green are you using? Keep up the good work. Cheers, hmmm, yes i do beleive i was one of those people who though you mad... as for my green, i mixed it up in a little pot, its like ultramarines blu and snot green or something like that with a bit of white. and ive almost run out, termies chew up paint like nothing else. So yeah.. I was gonna be more specific about what they were trying to achieve with the dna and all that, but I wasn't sure what you made different.. well i didnt write anything tooo specific, though i do know they were trying to mix WS gene seed with DA and adding some other stuff, and trying to see if they could get 'better' chapters by combining different ones, adding bits etc, for all we know the S&J are but one of several chapters made up in this experiment. but i dont have anything definite, thats just pencilled in atm... Tabor Posted October 3, 2008 Author Share Posted October 3, 2008 @ bezerker Pezz: no, its a 3:2 mix of Hawk Turquoise and DA green. its actually fairly green in real life, though also in RL the green undercoat is nowhere near as green as in the pics. ok, after reading the codex i discovered that my assault termi sergeant cannot take whatever he wants anymore (no combi plasma ;) ), so i had to convert the BR termy to be an assault termy to make up the squad.
