Black Templar army in the works

Thanks a ton for the comments fellas. I wanted to get an army shot up there, but I forgot the camera. Dont have the lighting at my place to get the entire army all under my little lights. The army is actually gettin up there in size, around 2k I guess. Im thinking about grabbing some sisters with the winnings I made, I got $110. Add that to the $30 I had in old store credit I can snag two sister squads and some of the dominion squad. Would only need to pic up the immolater and rhinos then. What do you all think? I think it would look good on the table with the sisters being white armor with black cloth. Works well visually and with the story.

Sisters would work great with marines ya? After a day of puttin foot to ass, its good to be able to unwind with your woman. :D

I love the LR Crusader, the banners on the sides go so well with the black hull. Would you mind sharing your recipe for those?

I've always liked the original metal termies and have a couple of squads in my BT army but those FW shields are just awesomeness on a plate, big enough to hide behind!

Nice job.

Hey nice army, did you make those shields yourself? Because they're damn cool.

Also yeah I think sisters would fit in nice, though the only model I really like is the Saint. I was considering getting that model and using it as a centerpiece, or even as a 'marshal' lol.

The banners in the front are from the BT upgrade sprew, just clipped to fit. To get them to mount flush I had to use green stuff to keep it level. On a side note, green stuff and super glue makes adamantium... in about 30 sec... you've been warned. For paints the were primmed black with a base coat of bestial brown. Layers went as follows: Snakebite, Snakebite + bubonic, bubonic + Vallejo Bone white, Bone white + Vallejo off white, then off white with a tiny bit of dead white. all watered down to about 1:1. Final layer of brown ink + water at about 1:15 ratio.

The crosses were done with the a transfers from the troop sheet painted over with black.

Ink was red ink straight, darker ink was brown ink with a hit of black + water. Little red wax stamp was scab red and red gore, I like my seals to be brighter, like on my terminators, but I figured they would be more dirty and dark on a tank.

Golds were done same way I do all my golds: Tin bitz, brazen brass, dwarf bronz, shining gold, shining gold with tiny spick of mithril. I've messed around with burnished gold, but it seems to be too yellow. The golds seem to be super thick so I cut em with about 1:1.5-2 water aside from dwarf which I keep at 1:1.

Thats all I can think of. You can add more colors in the brown-white fade of the banner to get a smoother transition, but I was running short on time for the tourny.

No way, I'm terribad with GreenStuff. I'm ok with it under joints to get the pose I want, I guess. As far as sculpting goes, I'm still working on cubes, balls, and snakes, hehe. The shields and shoulder pads are Forgeworld.

Thanks again for the comments. Im currently working on a Grey knight that matches my terminators. Hes black with a bit mroe reflected armor. Gold head again, =p. Some dont like it, I really do though. I'll try to get him up when hes done.

Amazing minis mate - im a bit confused though, I see a relic blade in your army list, but pictures of CCW+BP tacticals..

which army list did you use? i've been thinking about building a similar list myself

EDIT: Oh i see, those were just sergeants and special weapons marines. So im assuming you used codex:SM...

Nice. Glad to see sms winning tournies.

I got up to the shop tonight and got some army pics. Some came out better than others. Just so happens my guys have bases that match our GW table very well. This every BT I own, so it kinda shoots the force org. out. I think it looks cool tho. I was playing with minis getting the army pose I liked the most for almost an hour, hehe.

I love. Best painted and modelled BT's I've ever seen. I applaud thee, sir.

Wow, thanks a ton.

I was cruising through your thread and I was like: Ya, these are pretty good BT's. The Chappy's good and those are cleanly painted BT.

Then I saw the Terminator Group and LRC and was totally won over at that point. The Vindies are icing on the cake. You have a really intimidating looking BT army there thats nicely painted.

Great job. :)

Wow, those are some excellent models. You have tons of talent. I really like the terminators with them gold helmets and cross shin gaurds.

Quick question, how do you highlight your models? I am working on some Black Templars myself and they seem very bland to me (the black)

Great work man.

Captain Kael ;)

Thanks a bunch for the comments guys. I got the Grey Knight Grand Master done, I'll have to get some pics up next chance I can.

Also, the problems you had with your yellowish pics were down to white balance...

Yeah, the yellow poop was from not color balancing. I'm slowly getting better with taking photos =p.

About all of models black are done with black primer, black and codex grey mixed 1:1, codex grey, fortress grey. The terminators are done with more blends of the same colors. On the Grand Master I've finished the fading was done with much more detail, I hope to get a pic up tomarrow.

So I tried to take some pics right after work but after several tries I couldnt get any good shots. Donno, I'm tired. after three go-arounds heres what I have. Maybe ther wasnt enough lighting. I'll try to get a few more after I get some sleep.

deleted, repost below.

Black Templar + Grey knight = Black knight. Donno, I like him. Tired to make its like hes a mix between Inquisitor and BT, divided loyalties. I wanted him to have elements of both colors. How did it come out?

Very cool army. Clearly you have taken your time coming up with the perfect scheme, and it's brilliant. I've been following this thread for many months now, and it never disappoints. I particularily like how your force slowly grows, really makes me want to start a new army for sure. Keep it up, I'll be waiting for more.

Better pics of the Grand master:

Next up is a dominion squad for sisters. Ordered a Represser yesterday, should be fun. Here is their base look:

Goal was for them to get some attention, but not take away from the terminators. Let me know what you all think before I get too many more painted. They're a -nightmare- to paint. Black primer, two coats Vallejo model color light grey, two coats ghost grey, 3 coats dead white. Golds are started at dwarf bronze, next its burnished, topped off with burnished/mithril mix. WHile I have no issues spending tons of time on some models, these skanks are freakin 11 points, lol

And how they should match the rest of the army:

Till, those are great. That's what I am trying to build.

I think I went from black to adeptus battlegray too quickly, without a darker middle layer. I'll try your approach and see if my results are even remotely as cool as yours.

Please post more photos!

Sisters done. Did not come out as well as I had hoped. Any ideas on making them better? Many different camera modes with various color correction for your critiquing pleasure
