Into the Jaws of Hell!

Alright, I've thought long and hard and have decided to start Space Sharks as my first evar Space Marine army. I've only got two minis done right now, though I still have to decide how to do their bolters, and I haven't done any of the freehand on them yet because I wanted to make sure I could reproduce the color scheme before I did anything else. This is probably going to go along very slowly, as I will be only working on a single squad at a time before I buy any others.

Anyways, pictures!

Hey they are really nice and i think you should make the bolters silver with white (so it is like the sharks teeth) and it would break up the grey.

I think Silver and white would be too indistinguishable if they were both on the bolter. At the moment I'm thinking of doing black bolters, with the occasional marine have teeth decals running up and down the body of the weapon. Or perhaps red bolters might stand out a little more.

These guys are looking great so far. I think your idea of the red bolters would look really good, and that would help break up the grey as well as adding teeth designs.

Another Child of Monatoa! Your guys are looking pretty good.

Be sure to check this post out. ;)

Trust me, I already have! In fact that sketch of the veteran with his awesome blade is partially what helped me decide which chapter to do. And thanks everyone for the comments so far! Unfortunately I'm also working on some terrain and my Ork army at the moment so we'll see how much I can get done in marines this week :P

Welcome, brother. I think you are off to a good start. As for the bolters, I use black myself, but red also looks good. I tend to do my chainswords red with bone colored teeth. Good luck with your army, and I look forward to seeing more.

p.s. I am glad that my illustration could inspire you.

Alright, so I've been incredibly busy. But I've just finished my 2nd block of Sharks for the LGS' paint n' play - 5 Terminators and my Captain. Sorry I took so long to update this... what with school/work/etc :D

I've still got a little bit of detail to add here and there, and I'm going to try and go back and emphasize the highlights on the shoulder pads/faces a little more, but I'm rather pleased with them

Very nice. Here's my SS wip

I'm planning to paint as the 4th company, with a bit of green detail. Are you guys applying company colours anywhere? I'm thinking a dark green for the bolters or perhaps the shoulder pad trim.

I'm the one who started the 2nd company in the I.A. I'm not actually going to be doing company colors anywhere, to be honest - I'll be doing company number on kneecaps and squad numbers/icons on shoulder pads, but that's it (aside from other random stuff like "eat <DELETED BY THE INQUISITION> and die, face crusher, HEY GUYS LETS SIT DOWN AND TALK ABOUT THIS, <DELETED BY THE INQUISITION> ruiner," etc etc.)
