Fuhror Templar
Long time watcher, first time poster on this thread, and i must say that this is a high quality sculpt. I myself have just started sculpting with sculpting tools, and this really shows the potential a good sculptor can bring out. I love the scale and awe this model brings and cant wait to see it finished. Wolf89
Very sweet stuff, what formulae do you use for your white stuff (for mixing) to get a nice medium. I'm really liking those 2 horns on the chest. Amazing work, really stunning. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139424-sculptmagnus-the-red/page/3/#findComment-1631526 Share on other sites
Mr. Nipples
Heres the latest update: The Staff and some hair workage. The Staff is representing pure energy so its swirling back and fourth up the staff. Hair Still needs a little bit more tweaking. The Staff isnt glued down since its going to ship in a few pieces to avoid breaking during UPS's throwing package games. Almost to the end of this one, just have to add shoulderpads Which is kind of a wall for me since I havent really figured what would look good. Since I feel like normal SM shoulder pads look to "Generic" for something like this I was thinking more like Prehersey terminator pads but am not completley convinced. What does everyone on here think shoulder pad wise? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/094.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/092.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/091.jpg Toodles. Hubernator
Looks awesome :) Nice effect of the energy up the staff. As for the shoulders I'll need another look at the pic you drew. EDIT: Big shoulderpads :P With spikes :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139424-sculptmagnus-the-red/page/3/#findComment-1633060 Share on other sites
Mr. Nipples
mmm Spikes yessss. This is been the only thing holding me back from finishing this, I Just really want these shoulder pads to work well with the model, I like the spikey idea though. I may do prehersey termy style with spikes galore. wiplash
its amazing and apart from a few finger print marks fine although the face bothers me, the mouth is a little bit too far back, but thats just a personal preferance and its your imagination powering this statuette not mine! I may do prehersey termy style with spikes galore. Hrmmm... I'd agree with the Pre-Heresy terminator-style pads, but vote for studs instead of spikes. Why? Looking at Thousand Sons models- Not really spiky at all. I see spikes as more of a "terror" factor- playing games with the enemy's head; IE Night Lords using spikes with gory trophies to terrify their opponents. Whereas Magnus KNOWS he can kill you with just a (one-eyed) look, and keeps the Spiky Bitz to a minimum (Probably beacuse his hair might get snagged on the spikes B) ). But what do I know? Mr. Nipples
Well the shoulder pads are midst drying, took a little big of thinking how how to make them but I got it figured. Basic Prehersey pads. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139424-sculptmagnus-the-red/page/3/#findComment-1635466 Share on other sites

Mr. Nipples
After the long battle the shoulder pads are finally coming together, though they need some sanding and edge sharpening they are almost done. which means this model is almost done just have the finish the hand and the trim on the arms and bam completed. woot http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/102_5237.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/102_5238.jpg He looks pissed and much more agressive with the shoulder pads. Kaldoth
I'm really digging this sculpt! You have some serious talent, Mr. Nipples ^_^ My only problem with it is that Magnus was a cyclops, he didn't just have one bad eye or anything. But, your sculpt, your model, roll with it :D I'm looking forward to more updates! Cheers, -Kal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139424-sculptmagnus-the-red/page/3/#findComment-1636979 Share on other sites
Lucifer Fellblade
According to the HH series he has 2 eye sockets, its just that one of them has no eye and is just a fleshy patch, think it's Galaxy in Flames or False Gods. Edit: It's the short bit where Magnus is about to send warning to the emperor. Jigglyplums
If you read the fluff Magnus did not become cyclopean until years and years in the eye of terror. The emperor did not create a cyclops. He was called One-Eye Magnus during and before the heresy because of the missing eye. Tzeentch warps the poor boy after years as a demon prince and now he is a winged cyclops.
