Pistols in Close Combat

I only just started using pistols properly in my last game - instead of using rapid fire bolters or plasma guns, i fired my pistols then assaulted on the same turn.

 

I was wondering if the pistols were "used" and therefore couldnt be counted in the first round of close combat? As it was, I was firing pistols, charging and then having 3 attacks (1A + 1 for charging and 1 for having a bolt pistol as well as a CC weapon)..

No in combat the pistols work fine. Still get +1 A if have another ccw (not Powerfist or thunderhammer though)
