Games Day Chicago Thousand Sons

Here's the squad of Thousand Sons that I said that I would post at some point ;)

I still have to take of picture of these guys on their display base. This was a heck of a project, but I wanted to paint space marines that were not red, or white, or slate!!! :)

The base color was Reaper Amethyst, which is somewhat similar to GW Midnight blue.

I only had 8 "official" TSons minis, so I had to convert one regular chaos marine to get to 9. I suppose I should have abandoned the whole scared number thing for Games Day :o

I don't know if you can see the bases on these images, but I painted shadowy demon faces into the marble of each base.

Here we go:

I have more individual pictures, but I don't want to bog this down with too many images all at once.

Thanks for all the kind words ;)

These guys are supposed to be the vanguard of my new TSons army. Of course, that means scratch sculpting a buch of defilers, rhinos, landraiders, etc :P

IT also means finishing the TSons raptor squad that I started originally ofr this year's Games Day! Yikes.

Yes, I used a bunch of Berserker head crests for the conversion. I have a bunch more under way, so I will have to post some pics of those here. It takes a bit of getting used to at first, but once you get used to all the angles and such, it is not so bad!

Whoa... does this mean we get to see MORE of the coolest thousand sons on the planet ?? =] =]

Nice work, seriously, that's amazing painting, like all your work...

... Dude, I think I might need to go get some 1k sons now =]

Awesome. Just awesome =]

Here's the display base.

It was the most fun thing of the entire project.. painting all the deamon faces!!

Wow, this stuff is seriously good my friend. The blending is top notch, everything, excellent work. Did this place in anything? My only, only gripe would be that the blending on the daemonic faces on the display base is a bit rough when put next to those gorgeous models. Good work, your other GD entries were gorgeous.

You are an incredibly talented painter, but the one Marine with the old-style arms bugs me a lot. Is there a specific reason as to why he doesn't match the rest of the squad?

Anyway, you've got a very personal painting style going, and even though I'm not a big fan of NMMs and such, that's something congratulate you for! ;)
