Ive been waiting for ages to finally get started on my first marine army for 5 years (hides guard and daemons) in anticipation of the new codex.

as a tradition i always do my commander first so here he is, captain jovius of the 3rd company, flame reavers.

sadly my photography skills leave alot to be desired, but thanks for looking

I really like the purple on this figure and it has a nice smooth finish. I'd suggest adding a fine highlight of a lighter purple around the edges of the armour as it will really add to this miniature. You could also add a highlight to the black cape too? Finally a highlight of a lighter grey on the base will help the rubble stand out.

All in all a very good figure - keep it up!

Yea JetfireUK's right there. Your colours are really good (purple is my favorite colour :D) , but definitely need more highlighting.

Also i'm not too sure on the brown on the cape, i think maybe a darker shade would work better.

Will be a really nice figure when your done!

The more purple marines are showing here and there, the more I feel like doing some, just for the fun of it... (there may be some kind of "Cult of Purple" I think some day..)

He looks good.. (highlights comment: + 1 :tu: )

The brown of the cape is ok to me.. simple and effective 'freehand' on it

I should have painted purple on the back side of his right leg though.. but that's me, it doesn't really matter..

Keep up the good work anyway !

:D the def :P

nice purple i like that. You put it on so smoothly whats the color recipe smile.gif

just liche purple over black, water down the purple alot though, it does have a tendancy to stick vcery quickly to the black, thanks alot though :D

on the highlighting side, i tend to steer away form highlighting as i sometimes ruin a model when i do it, my friend told me to use some vallejo (sp) paints so i might pick them up some time soon

He looks like he is falling backwards...

ye i kinda went for the "about to take down something big and tasty look, i have his eye pointing upwards as if he is taking aim as something above him

thanks for the C&C guys, helps alot to see where i need to improve :D
