Assault on Black Reach Captain

Painted this guy to be as close a match to 4th Company Captain Uriel Ventris. Obviously I had to embellish it with more details and colours. But i'm really happy with this model and will probably use it despite the lousy weapon configuration. The sword is larger then a standard powersword... might even be the rumoured str6 relic blade.

Wow! great work on the whole army. Really like your power sword method, simple but very effective. I might just have to use it too

The hair and stubble are very well done too.

Cheers

:eek

Aw shucks.

Nicely done, but I thought the sword's blade was gold. You know, like Isenhart's Lightbrand in Diablo 2.

No idea what you're on about? is it a geek joke I don't get? ;)

Stunning :tu: these for a personal project?

Would you mind posting the sergeant you did? I love his head, any chance of a tutorial/recipe?

Pics of the serg (and all the other AOBR box contents) are in the link at the start of this thread. Tutorial should be coming to the painted dragon soon (as i'm getting asked a lot for skin).

how'd you get him so early?

Apparently GW mail order sent it out when they shouldn't have. Just lucky I guess.

I would be interested in seeing how you get on with the powerswords.

I'm glad they inspire. I'm trying to break the stereotype that UM are for noobs, and trying to give my gaming army a little bit extra care and attention.

No secret to the photography. Stick it on a tripod, and use macro mode and the timer to eliminate all camera shake. I quickly colour correct it in photoshop as well.

awesome paint job, its nice to know that it reality and painted by someone better than the Eavy Metal team, that model can look good.

(just sayin cus the Paint job GW gave it makes the model look like something I left in the toilet)

Well it was left in the Golden Throne... that's why it's called a Relic Blade
