I'm a long time marine player, but feel out with the hobby a while back and am just starting to get back into it, i decided to create my own chapter, i am using the red scorpions badge, and to start decided to do red scorpions, but i wasnt happy with their colour scheme. So after a few tries i came up with this...... http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd184/Rekky_01/1-1.jpghttp://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd184/Rekky_01/100_1097-1.jpg Sorry about the poor quality pictures, i'm an engineer not a photographer :D The problem i am having is i am not happy with the colour of the shoulder pads, i wanted a colour that would stand out from the red, and also work on the housing of the bolters and other weapons, but i am not sure that the grey is right. I also need a chapter name, i was thinking something along the lines of blood scorpions?? C+C is very welcome! Also you'll have to forgive my painting, its been about 4 years since i have done any! If you want a color thats gonna stand out from the rest then it is best to use an opposite color on the color wheel. http://www.tigercolor.com/color-lab/color-...r-wheel-300.gif As you can see the color directly opposite to red is green and so this color will stand out the most against red. So I would suggest you paint the background on the scorpion shoulder pad green. Id also paint the eye's on the marine green to match as using too many different colors make the model look overcrowded. You could also use a dull green for the housing on the bolter. As for a name? Crimson Marines? Blood Scorpions? Space Scorpion's? Not very imaginative I know lol But good luck and keep us posted! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rekky Posted August 26, 2008 Author Share Posted August 26, 2008 Thanks for the support Frost Knight and Ajax, i have taken on board some of what you said and have altered my colour scheme, and i have decided on a name, The Emperor's Scorpions! I just have 1 suggestion, why don't you paint the background for the red scorpion black instead of white so it's blends in a little better? Thanks for that idea, i might, i was thinking about using across all models, but using it for second in command is a good idea. I'll have to see. I am planning the robes to be creamy white, like DA's but at the moment its only base coated beastial brown. I like the idea of different coloured strip, i'll look into it. Rekky Posted April 24, 2009 Author Share Posted April 24, 2009 Hel, ok, its been ages since i posted on these guys, unfortunately i have had to put them on hold, in fact i have had to ptt 40k on hold, annoyingly real life has gotten in teh way again! Well, i am back, and am gonna press on with them again! Picked them up a couple of days ago, and have made a few changes to the Sarge mainly the helmet is now golden, and carried on with the rest of the squad. C and C welcome. I've already assembled them. I wanted to distiguish them from the other scout squads, so the close combat will have face masks, the snipers will have camo cloaks and night vision goggles, and the bolter armed ones will be bear headed. I want to use the Shrike rules, but the model doesnt fit with the scorpion motif so i am building my own.
