Brother Captain Aruis
Will I recently just started college two days ago and I never got a chance to build my 500 pts. army. Well, I gotten a job on campus as a DA where I can make about 410-300 a month depending on my hours and how many times I work. So I plan to start saving some money to buy some red scorpion upgrades! My questions is the legions had rivals and buddies during the crusades. So I want to do a PH of two legions that have a rivalry with each other, but work together for the crusades. So I was wondering which legions would A) Look best with the other legion ( Color scheme wise) :eek Had the best rivalry relationship(background) My first thought would be to do a Blood Angel army mixed with World Eaters(thus allowing me to use the BA army list I used to build the 500 pts. army). The second idea would be Smurfs and Alpha Legion. Lastly the third legion would be Iron warriors and Imperial fist. Those our the only rivalries that I can think of at this moment. Please add any rivalries that you know of that I have posted. Also they don't have to be loyal and non loyal legions. Im sure the loyal legion had rivalries amongst each other the same with the non loyal legions. Also did any loyalist space marines join Horus in the rebellion? Also I live in America does anyone know how much 16 euro, 8 euro, and 12 euro is in US currency. Zeke
Also I live in America does anyone know how much 16 euro, 8 euro, and 12 euro is in US currency. Ok. 16 euros is roughly $23.47. 8 euros is $11.73, and 12 euros is $17.06. And what site are you ordering off of, because if its FW i believe everything is in GBP. And if you need to calculate anything else just go to google and find a currency exchange rate. Good Luck, -Zeke Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144362-legions-buddies-and-enemies/#findComment-1673250 Share on other sites
Master Kezef
Biggest rivals that had to work together where the Dark Angels and Space Wolves. The Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors did not like each other, but one of the biggest clashes was Alpha Legion and Ultramarines. c-wrex
I always thought the Salamanders and Night Lords would be incredible rivals, since one preyed on the masses, and one went above and beyond to protect them. Brother Captain Aruis
C-rex I really like that idea. Does anyone know who the white scars had a problem with ? Also who did the Sons of Horus hate more Blood angels or white scars? Currently Im liking C-rex idea. I forgot about that, yeah I was planning to buy from forgeworld or would it be better to order from battlewagon? Do the salamanders or night lords have anyone famous during the HH I didn't find any online. c-wrex
Wrex is fine for conversation's sake. Lessee...during the heresy the Night Lords had their group of lieutenants that included Talonmaster Zso Sahaal (awesome and a half), the big crazy brute Krieg Acerbus (still around and kickin with demon legs), and I can't remember who else. I don't recall any specific Salamanders characters from that time period, which just gives even more free reign to invent any of your own. As for the Scars...I could see the Death Guard being a suitable enemy. Check it: The scars are the lightning fast raider-esque troops of the loyal astartes, and the DG are the "Silent promise of death" that march slowly and unstoppably into the enemy. You would have a battle of speed and mobility versus stubborn toughness. The Scars flash past a fire point, and the DG simply turn about and re-sight their guns without giving in to panic or foolishly chasing off after them. Neither legion would consent to fighting in the other's style. What say you? Bigger-than-Jesus
I'm not sure about if they hated them, but I'd say sons of Horus hated the Scars more, simply cause Sanguinius was Horus's favourite brother Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144362-legions-buddies-and-enemies/#findComment-1673585 Share on other sites

You mean the Sons of Horus hated the White Scars, or the Blood Angels? Sanguinius was the BA's primarch, not the Scars. The Blood Angels definately have some legitimate beef with the Sons of horus, though, for almost that exact reason, what with the whole "My Primarch killed your Primarch," thing. c-wrex
Ah, but what about the revelation to Sanguinius by Ka'Bhanda (spelling?) that it was Horus who orchestrated the demonic ambush of the Blood Angels in the Signus system? And I'd say that the murder of Sanguinius was most certainly during the Heresy, since Horus was still alive and kicking, at least for another half hour or so, or however long it took for Big E to smack down the dark gods pawn, whore-us. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
and lets remember that the Heresy didnt end with the traitor's death, many worlds needed to be re-claimed and the Iron Cage incident occurs, Corax's mutated marine army, the poisening of Calgar, death of some primarch of the Alpha Legion...alot of crap occurs after the siege of terra. wolf lord kieran Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144362-legions-buddies-and-enemies/#findComment-1673844 Share on other sites
Chief Librarian Benarius
Dont forget the Blood Angels and Emperors Children have a certain hatred to eachother. They used to be friends untill the heresy during which the Emperors Children "violated" an (i believe) entire BA company. Also although they both have an interest in attaining perfection, their understanding of perfection and the way to achieve it differs very much. This could have led to a close friendship in the beginning and result into an eventual split due to philosophical differences. And as clearly mentioned in the book Fulgrim, the Emperors Children and the Iron Warriors were battle brothers untill Fulgrim betrayed them. Brother Captain Aruis
So many good themes for me floating around. How should I tie them together I was thinking of using an Adeptus Custodes Captain or command squad ? This idea sounded good at the time, but my paint skills are not up to par ( never painted before) Luna Wolves or Imperial fist command squad ( As horus took command of many legions and Im sure Dorn did the same) Did the imperial fist and iron warriors always hated each other? Were they ever friends? So far my favorite too rivals are salamanders and night lords and blood angel and emperor children. Does anyone know of any good online stores in the US the sell forge world beside the warstore? Silent Shadow
I personally think that the rivalry between the DA and Space Wolves is the best idea. This is because their rivalry was healthy and they always strove to out do each other (the DA and SW had the best victory records behind the Sons of Horus) and despite the fierce competition between them they worked together really well. Theres also a fluffy reason since during the heresy both legions actually campaigned together where they built up a firm friendship and a good natured rivalry. (Also please don't go on about the 'Lion and the Wolf' fiasco, the less is said about that the better) I believe this sounds better due to the fact it actually happened during the heresy, they are both friends and rivals at the same time and it just sounds better than forcing together two armys that did not get along which would mean they wouldn't work well together during the battles. How should I tie them together As I menioned before, the fact they crusaded together is more than enough reason. Brother Captain Aruis
I originally thought crusade army, but I would think the one legion would complain if they weren't in charge of the force unless it was sons of horus or blood angels captain leading them ( I read somewhere they were the two legion held in the highest respect.) @ Silent shadow: I wasn't looking to force them together. I was hoping to find a not so well know rivalry of two legions or legions that work together in the past before the spilt or a big incident. I do like the space wolves and dark angels theme ,but what codex would I use for the army list? Did the any legion work repeatedly with the raven guard or iron hands? I feel like they're under represented in PH. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144362-legions-buddies-and-enemies/#findComment-1674816 Share on other sites
