Brother Caedrius Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 Ok, so the other day I caught "Dragonslayer" on BBC2, I hadn't seen this movie since I saw it at the cinema as a kid! Surprisingly I still really enjoyed it and felt that it had aged well, the fx, cutting edge for the time, held up well on the small screen. While watching I felt inspired to recreate the scene where Galen first encounters Vermithrax, hiding behind a shield made of dragon scales, given to him by Valerian. Now obviously a Space Marine wouldn't cower, but might take refuge, say, if being blasted with daemon fire! So, I cobbled together some spare parts from the command squad set and assault squad set, please bare in mind that this is mega WIP, as you can see he's still just blu-tac'd together. I just wanted to get an idea of the posture, and whether it creates a nice sense of drama. Now bits will be GS'd, like gaps, and possibly a cloak (maybe even singed). I guess i want you to imagine that a large daemon (say Balrog sized), has just blasted this guy. No dragons or daemons to hand, but thankfully a very trsuty and reliable ED-209 was on hand to help out! I was thinking of getting hold of a Grey Knight lance and using that, really keep the Dragonslayer influence going. I've got a couple of spare 2 handed swords lying around so will try and post. Any idea where i can get hold of a single Grey Knight lance? As for poor old ED, he's seen better days! I've had him since '89 and have got Robocop somewhere, complete with his removable helmet and plastic gun that pins to his right thigh. Will definitely have to invest in a suitable foe model. Yeah, I like the idea of trying a lance/spear and am currently scouring the bitz sites for a Grey Knights power lance, if I have to I'll buy a set, but I'd rather just get one spear! I like the Yriel Autarch spear, that's quite tasty...think I'll give the Grey Knight force weapons a go first, and if they don't cut the mustard, then we'll have a look at Yriel! That is the plan, just don't want to fork out lots of money at the moment that I don't have....just wanted some general critique on the posture of the Marine, some suggestions on what would work and what would look cool, what would look cheese etcetc. @ Amit...are dragons legal in 40k, or as a diorama does it not matter?
