Recommended Posts

 :tu: you guys are simply THAT awesome.

*begins bowing and prizing*

And if there are any more please place them here. . . ;)

((update))

OK guys I've been looking all over the net for ideas and found one that I'm loving and all i got left for you guys to answer is this. . .

when you water down inks (not foundation inks) and you want to add some dish washing liquid to break the surface tension, how much

liquid do you need.

And when answering it please use a ratio like 1/5/? ink, water, liquid OK?? ;)

;) :D Thanks i know ive looked at them ("big fists in a few") and the yellow wasn't as "easy" as i expected. . but i think i have a way of doing yellow and i want to know what

you guys think. . (tell me were i go wrong or whatever)

1- iyanden darksun

2- devlan mud

3- iyanden darksun (leaving 'mud' in the cracks and curves)

4- golden yellow (maybe a glaze)

5- 50/50 golden yellow and skull white

i was thinking of doing some highlights or glazes or mixing yellows between steps 3 an 4.

please answer back on this. . . i need to know what you guys think :) :P

I would start with a basecoat of Iayanden Darksun,

- Layer the cloth with 50/50 Iyanden and Sunburst yellow, leaving the folds Iyanden.

- Highlight the edges of cloth with pure Sunburst,

- Wash whole cloth lightly with Gryphonne Sepia,

- Highlight edges once more with Sunburst.

Hope that helps!

Hey Guys,

Know this may be a first post but have been on the forums reading for awhile now have read some amazing guides and help and would like to thank people for taking their time to post them.

I have been more of a painter then game player for years dating back to when I was in Primary school and will need to post some pictures of my work soon.

I have read basically every guide available on here and other forums and sprayed up 3 marines in black and have given it a go.

Now I'm a pretty good painter I came back with a duel marine in my local GW comp after 6 years of painting nothing and came second which was a huge surprise.

I just can't seem to grasp painting yellow for my team of imperial fists that I'm starting. The ways I've tried so far

1. First thing you need is patience - it takes many layers.

2. Prime black.

3. 2-3 layers of 75/25 Iyanden Darksun/water. This is to be a solid base coat.

4. Here's where the patience comes in. You need to take Golden Yellow, add some water and/or glaze medium and do as many coats as it takes to get the Golden Yellow to be solid everywhere but the recesses - which are left Iyanden Darksun. I'll estimate 6 layers.

5. Take the new Gryphonne Sepia wash and carefully apply it ONLY to the recesses/lines in the armour.

6. You'll probably need to touch up some areas with thinned Golden Yellow again.

7. Highlight "high" areas and edges with thinned (again water and/or glaze medium) Sunburst Yellow.

Bascoat-

2 parts Iyanden Darksun - 1 part Golden Yellow - 3 parts Scorched Brown

1st Coat-

2 parts Iyanden Darksun - 2 parts Golden Yellow - 1 part desert Yellow

1st highlight -

2 part Golden Yellow - 1 part sunburst yellow

2nd highlight -

1part Sunburst yellow - 1 part bleached bone.

1. Chaos Black spray undercoat.

2. Cover the armour with a layer of Dheneb Stone (Leave the recesses black, though)

3. Give the armour a layer of Golden Yellow.

4. Wash the recess-areas with Badab Black. (Apply lavishly for that dirty, mid-battle look).

5. If you overdid the black wash here and there, touch it up with some Golden Yellow. Then neatly apply some Sunburst Yellow along the edges of the armour.

I think it's down to undercoating them black, Any help and pictures will be a great help, I'll get some pictures of what my marines look like a bit later on. Thanks so much in advance

Ok guys here's some pics of my first attempt. Excuse my camera it's taken from my X1 and its only 3mp so it's the best I got till I get a SLR.

As you can see there not exactly great. I do prefer the bright yellow one in person but the middle one on photos tends to look a lot better. This is my first time painting yellow like this and I just can't seem to lay it right but I think it's totally down to the fact these were primed black and laying down yellow on a black undercoat just does not give a consistent flow.

Also Included are a few pictures of my Ultramarines which I'm quite good at painting, recently came second out of 25 entries in my local GW painting comp with my termy eldar duel figure.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated :P

Hi guys, just thought I would add a little input here.

My technique for yellow is as follows.

Black Basecoat

Iyanden Darksun, a few thing layers to create a flat finish

Sepia Wash all over

Develan Mud wash in deep recesses

Golden Yellow, alot of thin layers to build up an even coat

Bleached bone highlights.

Hope this helps, the results are below.

Also, can anybody recommend a good Yellow spray? I only want it for basing tanks.
