Gentlemanloser
Sorry if you feel I'm trying to take advantage of you. It's 3 PM for me. but rather a forward postulate derived from the precedent set by the Armoury. Like so: in the Armoury, all firearms are two handed unless specifically noted, so therefore for all firearms not included in the Armoury, they will also be two handed unless specifically noted. I don't think you can claim this with accuracy. Why aren't they one handed unless specifically noted? There are armouries with one handed non pistol Ranged wepaons. The Dark Eldar have two. the Destructor and the Stinger. Both one handed, both Ranged, Assault 1. These are actually good analogies to the NS. I wonder if the DE get an extra attack from having both of these on a character. :/ This would also fall down when a Terminator appears, since storm bolters are two handed and powerfists are one handed. The number of weapons that can be carried refers to the number used simultaneously. Not correct either. Otherwise a Marine could shoot both a Plasma Pistol and a Bolt Pistol simultaneously, as they are both one handed. All firearms are also close combat weapons. Not all close combat weapons are also firearms. This has been the mainstay of the argument for the last three posts. LoL! It'd th emain point I've been trying to discuss all thread. ;) I don't agree that all firearms are also close combat wepaons. Firearms are useable in close combat as much as two fists, head, feet, teeth and grenades are. ;) [snark]If someone were snide enough to include such an option, then the answer would be "Yes it becomes two handed".[/snark]There is a reason why all replacements options so far have exchanged weapons which require an identical number of hands. In the case of a power weapon, the precedent applied by the second method already exists that a power weapon is a single handed weapon. In all cases, the second method holds a higher order because it applies a rule where there is none clearly given, and the first method is dependent on it because it always requires the rule of the weapon being replaced - the rule for the weapon being replaced will often come from rule of the second method. Snide? I can quite a few exmaples if you want. New SM Command Squads can replace a Chainsword/Bolt Pistol with a Storm Bolter. And conversly the Honour Guard Chapter Chpater Champion can replce his Boltgun with a Combat Blade. Both methods you have given contain flaws. Also, see page 8 of the Daemonhunters codex for the True Grit special rule. GKT don't have True Grit, and still have Wrist Mounted Storm Bolters. number6
I really do think that this thread has now outlived its usefulness. It's been reduced to a Trolling Zone where Immovable Objects clash with Irresistable Forces over and over again.
