FInal update:

Hi all! here is a link to the completed model in Hall of Honour: Link

Please leave a comment if you want!!

Thanks again!

Update: Phew some early morning painting :D pre cup of tea!

Armour needs more work to blend in damage I think (although its not quite that stark in real life :P )

Cloak is getting there, I think it looks different. Quick back story: After the humiliation and shame of their downfall, Librarian Reus vowed never again to use his powers, as a mark of respect and rememberence for the battle brothers he was forced to execute in order for the surviving members of his company to be begin their penitent crusade. He bears their blasted skulls upon his shoulders, so that he may never forget. (Tragic eh?).

Update again: Well I've made a little more progress, still needs more weathering, but I think its progressing as I would like :>

Please let me know if you thinks its working out :>

Update: Hello Chaps and Chapessess!

Small update here, for anyone thats interested. Started painting the inside of the cloak, and the yellow armour. Looking forward to the challenge of 'weathering' it.

-----------------------

Hi all,

on to terminator 3 of my squad of old heroes, the Lamenter.

I originally converted the model to be just a normal terminator, but have been working and thinking of ideas...

This is the original conversion:

http://photos-e.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v338/128/96/633810322/n633810322_3968284_6904.jpg

And this is the modified version so far (I didn't sculpt the death eagle, its my first try at GS casting :P):

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v338/128/96/633810322/n633810322_4097770_1988.jpg

On this model I intend to mate the same modifications to the other leg as well (as this is not a thunder hammer weilding terminator).

I also intend to expand on the tabard (so it makes more sense), add something to the chest area, and the main thing, a really big cloak.

I wand something big (possibly attached at the wrists of the lightning claws too) with this sort of effect: Pooling (nb not my sketch).

Now I can think of a few ways to do this, but wonder what you guys think of the whole idea? Also the colour/pattern of the cloak is a consideration too, I've been liking these patterns/colours so far: Cloak pattern/colour

Anyay, thats enough for now, ideas very much apprecited!! and comments of course :P

Update: Just finished the opposite leg in the same style as the leading leg (harder to see, as quite a bent position!) and added a ribbon to the tabbard side (I will add another to the other side, and soemthing to the middle).

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v338/128/96/633810322/n633810322_4100920_9965.jpg

As the cloak is going to be verrry large, and I want to be be able to paint both its inside and outside, I am toying with the idea of construcking it from shaped and folded from thin plasticard, and secured in the position I want the maion body of the cloak to be, I would then make a thin sheet of green stuff and lay this on top of the cloak, and then form all the axtra detail, and deep pooling folds etc.

Oh and my paints just arrived, specifically for this model:

New update: Just finished the basics of his cloak, and added the second ribbon (kept forgetting!!), am considering adding folds to the inside of his cloak, but not 100% sure how :P

Please tell me what you think!

Hi JetfireUK :>

Thanks, yes your quite right, it will help do just that! Although I may have to buy some 'GW' greenstuff (boo! expensive!) as the stuff I got cheap of ebay from a recommended store has loads of cured 'bits' in it, which is ok for most small stuff, as I cann weed em out, but I do miss the odd one :<

The GS hair is awesome! I too can't wait to see it painted up. The lamenter's have such an interested color scheme.

I agree with Jetfire though.. the GS work on the torso makes the model look extremely top-heavy. Especially considering there isn't much to balance it out on the legs.

Ahhh tis the banner top from the plastic commander sprue :>

First time I ever tried it, after making a quick mold I didn't try using any kind of lubricant at all (other than a quick brush of water from my cleaning pot) and used greenstuff midway through its sculptable life (so not too tacky) pressed down with a penny stuck to a cork. Didn't stick or anything :>

Holy moly that is some impressive Green Stuff work, especially on the cloak. How did you find green stuff molding to be? I've done it to a limited degree and its been challenging but the results can be impressive.

Also this is Terminator number 3? Could you post links to the other 2? If they're anything like this one twould be a treat to see em.

Thanks a lot :>

I've been real lucky with GS use. I just made a mold using the bit I wanted and a blop of green stuff, then let it set. I removed the bit, painted inside with water, pressed some new greenstuff in with a painting stand (cork with penny stuck to the bottom) but waite for the green stuff to become a little less tacky first. Waited til next day, loosened the edges, and out it popped. I got 4 off the one mold :P

I was lucky with the cloak thanks!! an experiment with thin plasticard and green stuff coating ;)

Term 2 (Salamander)

Yea I did something similar to make a Heavy Bolter wielding Tyranid Hunter. I left GS over Cassius' Tyranid Hunter emblems until it hardened, removed the molds and then carefully applied a wet piece of new GS to the mold and let it harden for about 3 hours before removing the piece and leaving it to set overnight. The end result wasn't too bad but I really gotta work out a better plan. A painting stand backing sounds interresting. Did letting the GS sit over night before removing the moulded piece damage the mould? Even so the detail looks crisper than my way of doing it, might have to try that next time.

Hey DM :>

no probs!

The chain is from this tutorial:

The plasticard, is a modified version of and idea I've always used for cloaks. Normally I draw a design on some baking paper (grease proof paper/parchment) and on the opposite side smooth out a layer of green stuff, leave dry for a few minutes, then cut out with sharp scissors, shape and apply to the model. But this time, I got som 0.25mm plasticart, drew a cloak design, cut it out, shaped it using round nosed pliers, and temorarily glued it to the model. I then applied a layer of thin greenstuff to the outside and shaped to suggest small folds etc, made the fur, and left dry. I then removed the cloak, applied a layer of green stuff to the inside (avoiding the main attachment area) and made deeper folds, and once again left dry. I then added decoration, and painting began!

The yellow: I used vallejo paints over white, pretty much as simple as that. Flouresecent yellow and a little sunbust, in a thin coat over the white. Then a wash of vallejo translucent yellow, then a highlight of white, and successive thinned washes of translucent yellow. :>
