Converted FW Nurgle terminators

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm making some chaos terminators with a display base. I haven't got very far yet. I've almost finished this guy though, tell me what you think:

Sadly I can't take any more pictures for you since my new camera is malfunctioning. I bought a Canon EOS 450D and all it says after a minute or so after being turned on is "error code 99" :)

Aside from the terminators I'll be making some IG veterans as victims for them, though as they are not powerarmoured I'm not sure I can put pics up?

I'll be back with more pics when I've got my camera up and running.

You mean to make it game legal or to look better? I won't be using these in any game as I don't ever really play it. These will be a project just for fun.

I managed to squeeze a few more shots out of the camera, here are some alternative views, the last pic came out a bit blurry but it gives you an idea anyway:

The head looks a bit too high up to be a termie. Terminator armor is usually more humpbacked.

Oh wait, just kidding. Just realized that that isn't the actual head. Nrrrrrr

Yeah, the waist looks a little sparse...maybe add some pouches or some extra armor plates or a pistol or something. Other than that, looks good!

I really like the model and the pose. All i would add to the waste (if anything) is a bit of dangling chain, a pierced hand or some rotten ribbon.

As for that error code, take it bakc were you bought it. I had the same thing, and after sending it back and forth, I just gave up.

Thanks for all the input guys, I did forgett to mention that I will add a few bits to the waist, I just have to find them! I know I have them somewhere around my worktable but it's a bit messy "at the moment" :(

Anyway, here's a mock-up of the next terminator:

Inspired by the Typhus artwork in the previous chaos codex (it may still be in the new one, wouldn't know as I don't have the latest ed.). As you can see it is in it's very early stages, most of it is held together by blu-tac. (and yes, the guardsman will be complete with legs, I just wanted to get some WiP shots up ^_^ )

Cheers guys!

I'm by no means done with the sculpting yet, but I have learnt that waiting for it to dry before moving on when you've done some means less fingerprints all over the place ;)

So here's some WiP shots for you, quite a bit left to do but I'm getting there :(

I added a small pouch to the waist on terminator 1, was planning to use the decapitated head from the ork sprue but it just didn't look right. After that I wanted a pocket from the SM range but it looked out of place so I made a small pouch from GS, I'll post pictures along with the finished terminator 2 later today :)

Done, the bottom of jacket on the guardsman didn't come out perfectly smooth, hopefully I can hide that when it comes to painting.

Note the added pouch on the first terminator:

Now, on to the next one I suppose :D

The pose of the second model is really good, the only thing is when I saw the mock I sort of had an image of the Terminator having just slashed the guardsmen in half with his scythe and was holding the top half suspended while the guardsmen died in amusement. Not to say the end result is bad, just not what I pictured from the WIP.

Anyway some really sweet models, can't wait to see more!

loving these guys ,one crit would be that the rear of the termies doesnt feel right, maybe add some pipes or something as looks bland compared to the rest of these great models

Exactly what I was going to say. The back of them looks off for some reason.

Oh, and btw, are you goign to continue with that Titan, DEM? <_<

Fantastic work mate! <_<

The guardsmen are brilliant, absolutely amazing job on them!

As much as I hate to admit it the back of the terminators is what lets them down as it feels like a stop gap sort of thing.

Have you thought about extending the torso down over the area? It'd thicken up the waist as well.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hurray, my camera is back from service! Or well actually it isn't as they simply gave me a new one (one that actually works :o ) but no matter. Update time! (note that all pictures are taken with flash as the camera seems to insist on using it <_<

As I've already been experimenting a lot with these fellows (sculpting and whatnot) I decided to try out something new when it comes to painting as well, white undercoat. Not so sure I like it but then again I have been using black always and forever. It might just be one of those things I'll have to warm up to as I am quite satisfied with the results. I have also tried out a wet palette for the first time but as I made it myself the results were... varied at best. So as I feel more comfortable with my regular ol' palette I switched back to using that after painting the whitish armour. The white on the armour is, by the way, the only thing I'm somewhat done with. I am currently painting the face and skin as I wasn't satisfied with my first attempt. I've also begun work on the display base but pics of that will follow later.
