Panzerkopf
Does a model with Cloak of St. Aspira get a 2+ invulnerable save when it uses the Sprit of the Martyr Faith Act? When a model is equipped with the Cloak of St. Aspira, it gains +1 to it's armor save. So a Canoness with a 3+ save will gain a 2+. However, Spirit of the Martyr will grant the model/unit using it an invulnerable save equal to its UNMODIFIED armor save. The way I've been playing it, the Canoness with a Cloak has her armor save modified by that wargear item and therefore would only get a 3+ invul from SotM. However, I recently played a guy who told me that when it says "unmodified" in SotM's entry, it was referring to the way wargear items like the old Ork Choppa could decrease an armor save. Thus a Caononess with a Cloak would get a 2+ invulnerable save! Am I right, or have I been cheating myself? Charred Heretic
She gets the 2+ invuln. Her "normal" armor save improves from 3+ to 2+ when she dons the Glorious Cloak of the hallowed Saint Aspira. She uses the 2+ through the entire game, so it is her "normal" save while wearing the wargear. Melissia
It is as Charred Heretic said. She can indeed get a 2+ invulnerable save. Toogeloo
Spirit of the Martyr will grant the model/unit using it an invulnerable save equal to its UNMODIFIED armor save. This is incorrect, read your Codex again. The word "Unmodified" is not in the description of the Faith Power. The Reference Sheet at the end further simplifies the use of the power as well. Panzerkopf
You're right. I guess I interpreted "normal" to mean "unmodified" and it got stuck in my head like that. Thanks for setting me straight guys. I've lost so many Canonesses because of this... Arkaniss
D'oh! Ah well - at least you know now Panzerkopf. You can now start charging your Canoness into all those badass close combat enemies and make use of that 2++! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147158-cloak-of-st-aspira-and-spirit-of-the-martyr/#findComment-1707755 Share on other sites
Charred Heretic
I've lost so many Canonesses because of this... Wow. That's kinda sad. I even use the Mantle quite a bit, thanks to the greatly increased presence of the (str6) Assault Cannon after GW ramped it up into something just shy of a tactical nuke.
