Mithrilforge
This is a thread for all the members that Paint the Dark Angels successor Chapter - "Guardians of the Covenant" *it will incorporate any and all forms of works in progress so that we all can show our progress,to encourage each other and also to get hints and tips from our fellow board members. at the moment it involves "Trajan","Basilius" and "mithrilforge". other Board members who paint the "GotC" are also invited to post their works in progress. and so it begins.... Mithril. i will begin with what i have so far - a vet Sgt and a tac marine,my army is the 6th Co. and im incorporating the Company colors ,squad Number and Designation onto the right shoulder pad(i wanted to add some color to break up the boltgun and red scheme). Vet sgt Vartus! and my pad design as displayed on brother"Trajan" :D as you can see he is from the 6thCo, Tactical Squad No.1. and a pic of the Back to Base-ix "dungeon stone" base's im using throughout the whole army- C&C most welcome, Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/ Share on other sites
Scar Weaver
Looks great to me! Is that the actual designation for tac squads? Mithrilforge
Codex tac squad designation is that one right there  the arrow under your name, in D/A's its usually red and going sideways but i used a bone white as it stood out better. Trajan
Good work Mithril. The idea of putting Co colours with squad and number on the pad was a great idea :) And those red robes, awesome!! And the face!!! Excellent work :) -Trajan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1714484 Share on other sites
Basilius
Nice work brother. I have some kit-bashed figures in various states of completion and my very first Dreadnaught coming on well. I will post them here as soon as they are ready to go. Thanks for creating this WIP thread for all of us. Seems if they are a successor, they would follow the parents with symbols. Mithrilforge
Codex tac squad designation is that one right there ^_^ the arrow under your name,in D/A's its usually red and going sideways but i used a bone white as it stood out better. Cheers mithril Thanks for you infinite wisdom! Ok, jerk :), I know what my symbols are. I was speaking in terms of the Guardians. Trajan
Looks great to me! Is that the actual designation for tac squads? here you go, Scarweaver >>>Squadmarkings<<<, thought i read somewhere that unforgiven follow the codex concerning squad markings, and that they should be changed from time to time to confuse the enemy, i might be wrong though. -Trajan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1715709 Share on other sites
AlexCrute
Jolly fine work Mithrilforge, I always enjoy well-done squad markings/army badges etc. BTW what side of Melbourne are you on? Also, can you paint as fast as Trajan? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1715782 Share on other sites

Basilius
I am almost embarrssed to reply and post here! I have been promising piccies for weeks, so I took some today. My camera-fu is not amazing, and these are all in various stages of completion - nothing has been touched up, washed etc - most havent even been finished. C&C welcome. I have only been painting and collecting since June - had never even picked a paint brush for anything else before that... First, unhappy withe the Asmodai mini, I kitbashed a chappy stealing various ideas off the boards. No paint on him as yet. I was also unhappy with regular DA masters, so I kitbashed this fellow together. Its a shocking photo but you get the idea URL=http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=si&img=21690] I also made up an apothecary. This is my first ever attempt at white armour. And here are the three together I have also been paininting my first ever dread this week and I am pretty happy with it so far. Will look better after a few washes and some touch ups. URL=http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=si&img=21680] So there you have it - proof that I am in fact still painting my GUardians and not just talking about it lol. And all of this despite the siren call of Warhammer Online I might add! Trajan
Hey, Basilius, nice to see that youre up and running :) Some goodlooking models there, the chaplain is great!! And i have to say that gold helmets looks good on them. So whats next for these boys? tidy up and wash them? Keep up the work, and ignore that siren calling ;) And my brethren, just to show that im not idle, im working on these; Most of the metals is done, just tidying up the black before the sludgemix. Pulse
Looking good Trajan matey, 4 squads of termies and no heavy flamer! gasp! Basilius - Your doing well mate, the gold looks nice and a good use of the chaos head for the chaplain, looking forward to more! Mithrilforge - Loving the red matey, such a nice look for them, more please. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1717345 Share on other sites

Mithrilforge
Nice work guys! Trajan :D i nearly finish 2 models and you throw the gauntlet down with 20 termies! you are certainly making me up the ante on painting skill and speed....i accept that challenge :P @basilius- great start,i remember when i started painting(lets not go there)one thing i will point out though...Mold lines :o file em off before you paint,it will be worth it in the end. i really like the chaplain conversion but i would try and get rid of/and or hide the chaos arrow on his helm, maybe file the arrow part so it comes down to a point. @AlexCrute - i live in S/E suburbs,Mulgrave. and "No" im certain that i cant paint as fast as Trajan can <_< but will give it a good go though. Mithrilforge
Good stuff Trajan, really like the slight use of gold there,it breaks up the boltgun color just enough  i have finished my first 2 tac guys(you can see em in the hall of honour) but my next guy is a plasma gunner(cheese melter) to go with the Sgts Combat squad here is a quick sneak peek, will start painting him tonight,as there is no bare face to paint im sure he will get done much faster. Mithrilforge
hey Trajan, those guys look great, love the Lightning Clawed marine ;) are all those figures the Sternguard models? here's my bases that i cant decide on which color- terracotta, battlegrey and the calthan :) C&C required! and my sneaky side project "Angel of Redemption" very w.i.p cheers Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1743360 Share on other sites
Trajan
Thanks, Mithril :( The Redemption boys seems to come along just fine, like the rest of your splendid work. As of the bases, i think you should go with the battlegrey rim. Doing the opposite than you guys, here are some non robed sergeants, so i can switch between robe and non robe for all that have somewhat of a rank in my Company http://i387.photobucket.com/albums/oo316/Samael76_Gotc2/Wip/PICT1136.jpg -Trajan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147764-guardians-of-the-covenant-acolyte-to-master/#findComment-1745212 Share on other sites
Trajan
are all those figures the Sternguard models? Vanguard, Brother Mithril. Vanguard :whistling: Update: Armour wash and some inks done. Mithrilforge
Oh very nice trajan, the blend of silver and golds go so well together and i must say your blue power wpns are outstanding(i think that idea may be stolen very shortly... yoink!) The kneeling Sgt is my favourite one in that group, its like he's going to ground after fire and movement and giving covering fire for the lads following up. the bolt gun with sling is cool,is that a standard part or home made? Cheers Mithril Also,im going with the Battlegrey for the bases.thanks for the input :tu: .
