Yet another techmarine...

Sevano Tomasin

Recommended Posts

Well, as the title suggests, this is a techmarine log.

I'm (planning) on making Servano Tomasin, as written in "Chains of Command" by McNeil, to fit in with my 4th company force for a small campaign

Model-wise, he's based on the thunderfire gunner, one I picked up cheap at a wargames show in the Royal Armouries today.

I've tried to make the legs bionic by sticking some "gubbins" on and a few GS wires, and bulked up his shoulder armour (not the shoulder pads though). Arms and backpack are blue-tacked on. From the book, I know that the right arm, most of his torso and both legs are bionic - he is described as being able to make faces (paraphrased), so I'll asume that his face is free of augmetics. I'm not sure if I should try to "bionicify" his chest or leave it - it's going to be covered up by his arms, and it does have the large grill thingy on it. I'm going to put him on a large base with a cluster of melta bombs on it, and then make another base which has a large pile of red goo and an ultramarine shoulder pad....just incase....

Detail of the right leg bionics:

C&C? I'm not sure how to paint him, or what equipment to give him. Since the book was written when techmarines wore complete white armour and apothicaries wore complete red armour, I think I'll do him in "true" codex colours. Any ideas folks? As for the head - I'm not sure if I should risk trying to remove the helmet or if I shpuld just leave it.

*Edit - he's one of a few special characters we created for the campaign on Thracia, "A bridge too close". One of his attacks, useable once per game is lobbing melta bombs 6 inches towards an enemy unit - be it a bridge, tank or bunker. Or grot. <_< It uses the large (non-apoc) blast template, due to the fact that he's effectivly strapping about 20 meltabombs together and pulling the pin. BOOOOOM!

Any equippment suggestions would be appreciated, as would C&C.

Thanks, S.T

No, its the thunderfire techmarine. The joys of cheap stuff at wargames shows

I think I'll use the thunderfire chassis as some sort of "bike" for the techmarine, or a raypier (sp?) tank-destroyer.

I've just sprayed him up, some of the details I've added come out better.

Update -

I've finally found the camera after an afternoon of watching Buffy and painting, so I thought I'd offer the painting update of Servano:

I'm not overly keen on the red - what do you guys think? Are the bionics on his lower legs obvious?

Thanks,

S.T

Backwards

-Errm....I knw that...I was just...erm...testing you. Yes thats it, testing you :)

But seriously - what do you think of the painting?

Anyway, I've done more work on the torso, high-lighting the red, adding shading, sticking the arms on and more bionics, adding dirt and small paint chips.

What do you think? Do the bionics look like bionics?

This is the first time I have seen the full servo harness techmarine, Servano, and you have done an excellent job so far. But I can't help but think that with that pose, there should be a thought balloon over his head saying:

" Now what was that cute Sister's phone number again?" ;)

Keep up the good work, Newtype

Thanks guys ;)

More photos will follow when I've done more work - I've just about finished with the harness and the arms. I've yet to start the extra large base or the "dead base".

As to the pose of this, I thought he looked more like someone playing with an RC plane and trying to work out "why is it doing that?" or the classic "What's my pin number again?" a pose I'm used to having been shopping with my dad ;)

Once again, thanks.

I've done more work, and taken a few pics. First off, Servano next to the "old" Servano.

Now, when I said this, I had a feeling that not all of you thought I was crazy enough to do this. Well, I did it. I made the semi-molten remains of Servano Tomasin. ;) ;) *walks off cackling manically, chokes, goes and sits in corner, rocking forwards and backwards*

-More work on the corpse will be done.
