I'm playing with the idea of a new marine chapter, i want to use the Space Wolf codex/rules for it, but i understand theres no real successor chapters so i'll have to fudge stuff a bit i guess.

My test colour scheme is shown below, as you can see i'm using the Sword as a symbol, and taking a few bits from the dark angels conv kits ( the pure sword pieces).

My questions are .....

1. do you think the colour scheme works (red + white, white on symbols, hands and inner faceplate).

2. if i want to use SW rules should i just do a pure SW chapter in proper colours.

Sorry for the poor quality pics (its late).

i agree, edge the shoulderpads with another colour

and if you want to use Wolf rules, then by all means do so. Just because a chapter isn't descended from another, it doesnt mean that the younger cant emulate the older

I just had a good idea....If i am wrong just tell me. Space wolves only had like one or two succesors and they were met with disaster. But, in the latest space wolf book, it seems like the space wolves are composed of smaller tribes or fangs. E.G. Blood claws and long fangs. So instead of saying that there is a different founding from them; couldnt you say that there were simply another fang group that is unheard of due to.....[u fill in]. This way you can create the fluff for your own tribes struggle and yet not change the history/future of the space wolves. Also, it seems like wolf armies are made of these distinct groups, so a different warband would have different colours. Just an idea.

I've made some minor changes to the colour scheme (full white helmet instead of partial, and black shoulder borders) i've also included the rough dark grey version of the SW colour scheme i was considering.

Which do people prefer ?

Any comments or ideas, also looking for a name for the chapter in the red scheme, the symbol of the chapter is a sword.

Thanks

I agree, I also prefer the red one but with only white face. When you do a model with an eagle on the chest painting that white might look good and help add more contrast. Also I'm not too keen on having the black tactical marking with a white army symbol, however it does tie in with the shoulder guard trim (totally forgotton the right word for it).

I guess theres three options

1. Red helmet, white face, as first pics.

2. White helmet, red face, a possible alternative.

3. Red helmet, white stripe, ie a white stripe down the top of the helmet.
