(This does not mean that you can disembark 5 guys and leave the rest inside). That is incorrect. Combat squad (as per RAW) is when they are deployed, not when they "hit the table". A unit in a transport is deployed as a single entity so as soon as the transport is deployed onto the table, the troops in it have been deployed as well. You are then in effect forbidden from splitting them as this would result in 2 units in a single transport. To suggest they can be split when leaving the transport would also mean troops deployed in a transport at the start of the game could do this, which is clearly not the case. RAW also tells us drop pods are the only example where they can combat squad when they set foot on the table so all other combat squad decisions must be made at some point prior to disembarking, whenever this may actually be.
