Ebay pretty good, got a fairly large Sm fleet for about £62, a fleet that would of cost about £180. As for color I went for the classic white hull with red prow.

Anyways, took some pics of flagship (The Eternal Crusader) for my BT fleet, it isnt legal but if players agree to fight it, then yay. It's a pure beardy cheese beast of a ship.

Eberious, I checked out your thread, from a couple years ago in fact. I would like to ask you to update it. I'm quite fond of your ideas, and I'd like to see what else you may have. And..I'd like to steal an idea or two, if thats alright with you. Please post in it so I could post in it as well without getting nicked for Threadmancy. Wonderful work by the way.

 

I've started work on yet another battleship though. The flagship, please note the antenna. I haven't glued on the top plate yet, as I need to make the hull one, solid piece.

So I've done a lot of stuff today. Spring break is almost over, and I'm finally getting productive...great...

But, it other than that, I've been busy all day, and still have time to get a bit of modeling done. (Mind you, I had strong coffee this morning, and I don't drink coffee...and I had a pepsi with dinner :P)

so I have my flagship, now covered. She needs some details along the top part, port and starboard weapons, and a bridge and an engine section.

So I guess I should finally post what I've been scheming these past few days. I had purchased a Retribution Battleship and a Battlebarge in hope of conglomerating one large ship, something that screamed different-ness from the rest of the superships.

After acquiring my pieces (3 days after I ordered by the way, thank you GW!) I quickly set about opening the boxes...and staring at my parts for 4 days....

Then I finally started cutting the metal (pain in the butt process) and wasn't exactly pleased with the lack of ideas I was coming up with. Then I realized that I received two left-side pieces, so I'll be making a call to GW tomorrow. But this is the rough outline of what I'll be making these coming days. Its not much, but it is slightly larger than my other ships, and it is bulkier and a bit more in every way (and it'll be slightly different soon).

 

This is the bunch-o-pieces I received :lol: And all the plastics I had left over.

And they gave me a ton of extra pieces! I received 2 extra battleship engines, 3 extra Retribution bridges, and a bunch of little fin thingies.

This was the initial, failure design. It is held together by blue tac, and it is in several pieces, at several levels, at several angles :)

This is the most recent model. Mostly held together by blue tac still, some of it has actually been glued together (The three pieces in the back, pictures to follow.) I'm not sure if I like the Battlebarge cannons on the side like that, but I know I want it elongated to this length (thanks to some Orky Kunning, and LEGO pieces) And I know that this will have 2 lance batteries and two hangars. I would like the broadside guns, but I'm not sure how those will go yet.

This is the piece that is glued together (and inverted.) As you can see, there are inch-and-a-half long pins running through it. I needed strength in this model, because its metal, and a tiny bit of glue will not hold it together. On the left side, the pins go into the model about half an inch... Imagine doing that by hand...NOT fun.... And while you're at it, imagine cutting off that metal box thing, from the tip of a Battlebarge...EQUALLY as fun.

And this is the center piece, made with LEGO. I'm not sure I want to leave it like this, but with a bit of detailing, it should come out to be okay. Of course, where the LEGO meets the battleship, that will be pinned, and lined up correctly, with the adequate amount of detailing along the top and bottom.

Not really sure of what I'm doing guys...I like BFG, but I can't find a way into it.

I kinda like what I have, but I don't know where to go with it. I've taken some Work In Progress pictures, but I'm not sure they really show what I'm going after.

This is what I'm working on at the moment. I've already cut a lot, and shaved a lot of the inside down to get it to fit, but I'm not sure of how I like it. I like it in the way that it bulks up the rear end of the ship, but its not entirely fitting. (Wasted 2 SM Strike Cruisers in the doing too...)

Don't worry, I have a piece to fill in the blank, square shaped hole, its just not in the pictures.

I'm thinking of making the prow like this. I'll probably add a third section, since this thing is a bit lacking in weaponry at the moment. If not, I may possibly add a fourth too. I'm not sure about that one yet.

Which is a nice piece of bit for me to use for the 'third' weapon point on my battleship, which has been glued like so. The top detail piece (obviously) has not been glued on. Nor has the neck been glued to the body either. I'm still working on filing down some details on the battlebarge nose piece to accommodate.

liking the short stubby ship maybe without the front IN prow, although its bordering on becoming a ork battle crusier without the IN prow. Still very cool. Good to see you still working on this, but it would seem my photobucket acct has went over the limit. Shame more people arent into BFG.

Eberious: Yeah, I like it too, looks....compact, or something. It does look like a hulk though, like you say. I think the nose is a bit long, but I feel it needs at least 3 weapon points to make it a battleship.

 

So I'm getting closer to the first ship of the line. Just need a rudder (which I have, just haven't worked on yet) and then a bit of detail around the bridge, and I can start painting something larger than a dinky frigate.

Now I get to go through the tedious process of looking for all the little bitz that should be painted red and the like. I'm thinking that the prow color will be the stark bone, and the detail bitz will be done out of silver.

On the flagship (still in construction, pictures above) the prow will be white, and the details will be gold.

I was told that I would be responsible for nearly 10 million crew members, and even Solar Admiral Pike as well. Yeah, I was nervous. I would have been happy to take role of first officer.”

 

“Hmm…alright…and last one…what did you think of the firepower of The Glory?”

 

“The ability to not have to close in range with the enemy is the main key of The Glory. I can sit back and hit the enemy hard, and then disgorge nearly 200 attack craft at once, which is enough to wipe out nearly anything. The several lance cannons on my ship are great for long range, far enough where if the enemy comes close to hit me, they’ll already be severely crippled. Torpedos are expensive pieces of weaponry, I tend to use my energy weapons when I have the chance, and hardly ever use torpedoes, though they do make fantastic fireworks.”

 

“Okay, thank you for your time Captain Andrew McManus, your interview will surely be seen on every hive world in the Imperium. You are doing a fine job as captain, keeping Terra well protected."

The other day, my dad had told me "I borrowed some of your black Krylon spray." I didn't mind. Until today, I found out that by 'borrowing' he meant he used all of it. I was kinda sad. Hahaha. So I used the gray Krylon that I had bought for the underside of my Thunderbolts (which one sold this morning for $145 :D )

And the blued finish project. I purposely added a last layer of skull white with a hint of ice blue in it to make my ship slightly lighter than all the others. Its noticeable, but it doesn't ruin the painting.
