Gresiloth
I got the Assault on Black Reach box recently, so it was the perfect chance to model up a Nurgle dreadnaught! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1858.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1859.jpg - Green stuff, sand and drilling adds the main weathering to the Dread, then I’ve used a few extra bits here and there. On the torso I’ve used a leering face armour plate from a Chaos vehicle accessory sprue, as well as the spiky Chaos halo. - The multi-melta barrel has been used as an exhaust stack - The two wooden shields are from a Night Goblin plastic kit - The scrolls are from the Empire flagellants kit (an AWESOME kit for Nurgle!) http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1860.jpg - A Catachan guardsman with a zombie head-swap has been chained to the back! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1862.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1864.jpg - The close combat weapon has been altered using old Tyranid parts – the claws are the ends of the old metal Carnifex arms (except one, which is cut from a metal Gargoyle) - I’ve added an open Flagellant book to the shoulder http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1863.jpg - I replaced the multi-melta with a lascannon. I know it’s meant to be twin-linked but it will have to ‘count as’. This is a really, really old plastic lascannon and I don’t know why I had it! - Another flagellant scroll finishes the shoulder. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_1865.jpg - The base is quite simple urban terrain, using an old Rhino hull and some sprue girders (I textured it after taking this photo). Brother Nihm
I'm loving that claw + those GS and 'sand' growths, they literally scream Nurgle. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151365-nurglified-aobr-dread/#findComment-1760824 Share on other sites
taLLis
I think it's a great conversion Only thing that lets it down is the guys strapped to the back, if he were removed it would be better, in my opinion - tal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151365-nurglified-aobr-dread/#findComment-1760828 Share on other sites
cathar the great
Amazing! I'll get two Black Reach dreads this week and your work is very inspiring. But I would remove the multimelta exhaust thingy on the front, it's just a tad too much, and no matter how nive you paint it, it will always looks like a multimelta awkwardly stuck on to a dread the Gs-work is very good too and the guardsman is a good idea Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151365-nurglified-aobr-dread/#findComment-1760831 Share on other sites

What do other people think? Maybe if you trimmed off this bit: It would make it look more exhaust'y and less barrel-like? Edit: May I also suggest that you paint the ribbed cables going to the sarcophagus in purple or red tones, to make them look a bit like exposed intestines? Edit 2: You can also make clusters of fungus-like GS exhausts, like those found on the back of Typhus. Gresiloth
Cool points Nihm - I can't decide whether to remove it altogether or not. I've sprayed it now, but it's no big deal to change it. Perhaps it is enough to have that spiky halo. With all the shields and scrolls and stuff, I don't want the hull to look too crowded. Nice idea about the intestine tubes, I may well do so! Son of Dorn26
If you cut off that bottom part like suggested then color it a dark enough metallic, it shouldn't mess with the rest of the Dread. I really like how it looks, which is interesting as I usually dislike Nurgle stuff. I can't wait to see some paint on it! Gresiloth
Ok I've removed it altogether, and textured the area with some sand. I think this was the right move, as it was only there due to my tendancies to use as much of a kit as possible. It looks fine just with the halo and scrolls. Rob_Loken
I must say I think it will look better minus the melta barrel. It is an awesome conversion, it'll be great to see it painted. Asmodeus' Swordhand
That was fast. I must say I absolutely love the model though. Would you mind sharing the recipe for that beige? Gresiloth
Sure, it's actually VERY easy - basecoat of Calthan Brown, then a generous brushing with Bleached Bone (but not obscuring all the brown), then copious amounts of Devlan Mud wash, then a final dusting of Bleached Bone.
