adampoots Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 So i began this army around 5 years ago. When 4th edition rolled out along with the space marine codex i was very butthurt. All of the neat things that made a very expensive investment so neat... had been stripped away. So here we are so many years later, i've got a warehouse loft in brooklyn with a massive warhammer room. Built a nice 4'x8' dedicated and finished table and several ikea display cases proudly show the dozens of painted miniatures i've created over the years. I got into this hobby when i was 12 years old, by chance box of advanced heroquest. And here nearly 14 years later i've reached a great moment of triumph, a warhammer room. Now... to finally finish painting a single army and then... play this <Deleted by the =][=> game! So here we are new edition of 40k, new space marine codex and finally a bit more love for a very very overlooked chapter. I often wonder if white scars is some terrible bastard child of a chapter, with a cool paint scheme and an awkward battle cry. "for the khan and for the emperor" ?! They are also uh friends with the space wolves and hunt together... right. We have a warhammer night around my place. Still figuring out exactly what day of the week it is, but hey at least its a start. I've decided that perhaps a good way to keep my brush motivated was to share my progress with my scars army. Painting white sucks and i've tried all sorts of different techniques and i still! Have not settled on just one! Anyway, this first post is more just to say hello and show of some pictures of what there is so far. I gather..with the first two sentences...You liked 3rd Ed, but not 4th. If I'm right. Well, whatever. Your models look great. I loved 2nd and 3rd, but by 4th i was getting a bit lost. 5th is the first time i've really started to sink my teeth in again. Here is a white scars bike captain I put together 5 years ago. Its mostly space wolf bits with a force halberd acting as a power lance. I think i am going to remove the banner pole. If I ever get burned out from painting, I just get some friends over, or go over to my friend's place, and we all paint and chat. We put on movies and stuff for background noise, but it is fun. Try it sometime. The best way I have ever seen white done is doing a Grey that is very close to a White, but then it is highlighted up to white. I think the white you have done looks great, but I am just saying there are other ways of doing it too. Good luck. The Scars call to me too, but I've decided to stick with my Ultramarines 2nd Company for my bike force. As for the capsule bases that come with Scout Bikers...they're now available direct from GW! Here! If the link doesn't work, go to the GW US site, click the Paints and Tools bar, then Bases. The Bike Bases are $4.50 for a set of 5. Beats buying them from the WarStore for 4 bucks each!
