the jeske
the jeske; One. More. Time. We already know that in south-central Russia, there are only 3 ways to play Chaos. It's evident since you make such a strong point in hammering this notion into our heads every second or third post you make. but i left novosybirsk like a year ago . am in berlin right now and before i was in london for almost 4 months . i havent seen any working non mecha armies and i have seen a lot . Should you take static heavy weapons squads while having a mechanized army, the one thing you really should watch out for is permanently closing your firing lanes. This is bad. since when are oblits static ? they can deep strike m they can move and be covered by rhinos from incoming fire + how are they different from predators you move 6" and a pred has less firepower then 2 oblits . only with oblits am less restriced by LoS [no weapon mounts /no turrets/mo chance to get imobilised etc ] There isn't enough Math-Hammer in the world that can solve every situation. There are situations (such as the firing lane example) where you CAN NOT POSSIBLY use Math-Hammer to solve it. yes there is also testing and tournaments , and tons of normal games . I dont do math hammer because am not good at it . I speak out of expirience . for me testing army builds is more of a job , because i convert them and my wife paints them . if we make an unworking or weak army , it wont sell [unless its an ordered one then we dont care]. Having played often enough with static heavy squads -and- mobile APC units, I can say with enough experience, that there isn't a calculator powerful enough to tell you that you should take "blahblahblah" in "XYZ" list because it's "1% more powerful". I dont know what armies and what army build you test against but an army with 2x2 or 3x2 oblits has fewer bad match ups then one with preds . it doesnt suffer from deep striking armies and eldar as much a build with preds does . it does much better[not 1% its about option . i cant hide a pred from drop pods /outflankers or eldar , i can hide oblits , by putting them in deep strike .its aslo much easier to get cover saves for them ] . if the game world was only about math hammering kills then a las pred has more shots then 2 oblits and costs less. the only difference is that unlike oblits the pred does nothing against horde or meq [few shots on the pred . easy to get cover , am not even talking about lash] and oblits will also get off more shots [even if they do die in the end] , because they dont get stuned . I dont know maybe be your a master tactican or your opponents are bad and you can always get and roll for that +4 cover on tanks . I cant , neither does the larger part of the gaming community.
