Growler67
Since there is no prone sniper available except a metal Catachan, I am converting one from the SM Scout plastic squad box. I am using legs "E" from the Missile Launcher scout and torso "F". The "E" legs had the best resemblence to a prone position available. I cut off the stone modeled onto the left foot and also the right foot so I could reposition it. Drilled a hole in the centerlines of each right side piece and used a piece of a paper clip as a pin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/tyggrr65/Models/Space%20Wolves/scout713.jpg I also trimmed away the empty holster molded to the right hip. It's been a while so I thought I'd brush up my skills with a sharp knife. I chose a holstered pistol bit with the grip handle showing and cut it down to resemble the size of what I removed. Not necessary, I know, as it'll get covered up but hey, I like to do this kind of stuff. I also kept the thigh strap intact while removing the rust from my knife skills. An intact holstered pistol and kneeling leg bit used to show original parts before modification. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/tyggrr65/Models/Space%20Wolves/scout714.jpg Using my knife and a small file, I ground away (at an angle) some of the area where the torso and legs meet so as to allow the torso a little more up bend for better (more realistic) positioning. There will eventually be a cloak modeled (that'll cover most of this area) but this is still a WIP. I posted it here as it is specificlly related to my SW's but I may link it in the WIP section later. The other torso is used to show the difference with the material removed from the lower back area of the mating surface. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/tyggrr65/Models/Space%20Wolves/scout715.jpg Will advise and update on progress as this project matures. Comments (both pro and con) welcomed as always.
hendrik
wouldn't a proning position be less effective now with TLOS? still nice conversion, what base will you be using?
Growler67
wouldn't a proning position be less effective now with TLOS?still nice conversion, what base will you be using? Quite possibly, however, conversely it'll be harder to target as well. Probably the cavalry rectangular base. I have several of the GW ones and a few that are slightly larger. I'll update which one in a progress report.

Grey Mage
Yeah... its not all about the LOS... some days its just about looking really, really cool. Also Ill note that if you really want to be a bastard about it you could fire under a good number of tanks, and any skimmer in the game with a prone sniper.... TLOS helps as much as it hurts.
