Equipment stats vs WYSIWYG

Heya all,

Not sure if this has been awnsered before, but I just can't get around this rule in how to interpid it.

As the CSM codex states that "normal" CSM has bolter, boltpistol & a close combat weapon.

There is of course the WYSIWYG rule.

Do the equipmentstats "overrule" the WYSIWG rule?

Or better yet

1) In order to use all the equipment, does it needed to be modeld on?

2) Do we consider the weapons to be on the model?

So the marines get an extra attack during cc fase due to the pistol & cc weapon: even if you only see it holding the bolter.

Instead of shooting the bolter they can shoot the pistol & charge: even if you only see it holding the bolter.

I'm playing & creating an Iron Warriors company so most of my models are going to be shooty boltermarines.

It hasn't happend a lot before but they do get in cc now & then.

The close combat is reserved for the specialist (bez. & raptors), but I wouldn't mind having an extra attack here & there if it's legal.

That was it, i would really apriciate some insight from you all out there.

Cheers

I too have this problem, I'm constantly wondering if I have to put a bolt pistol and both grenades for tournaments.

There are 2 ways this could go.

1. Literal: Absolutely everything must be on the model

2. Important: can't give a bolter Marine a Lascannon

My chaos marines are a mix of guys with bolters, bolters and chainswords, bolt pistols and chainswords, bolters and bolt pistols. No one has ever cared.

As long as the upgrades are obvious (meltaguns, lascannons, etc.) no one will object.

Tournaments aren't that specific, so don't worry. As long as upgrades are modelled and you're using the right models/good "counts as" (not an Orc, a Genestealer and a Guardman in a Tactical squad) figs, you'll be ok. Just explain to your opponent before the game if there is anything he should know. It will make the game easier and build up a good level of trust. We're all in it for the game so no point springing a surprize on them plus you'll find a lot of the decent gamers will already know the basic stats of your minis, and will be looking for upgrades/advantages/sneaky things. Good luck.

Yes, if it is basic equipment.

1) No.

2) Yes.

WYSIWYG doesn't matter here, as there is no question what the model has. CSMs always have Bolter, BP, and CCW. Unless modeled with a weapon they may be upgraded to take, they have all 3 weapons. If they are upgraded, they sub the bolter and keep the BP and CCW. If they are upgraded to an AC with PW and PP, for example, the AC has a bolter, a PW, and a PP.

Wow fast replies,

Thanks everyone for clearing this one up for me.

I'll make sure my opponents know what they are facing.

All my specials, heavies & characters DO have their "extra's" added soo there is no doubt in WYSIWYG.

It's nice to know that (next time) when I get smothered by orks or bugs I can take more of them down with me.

Thanks a lot again.
