Iron Warriors Super Heavy

So to accompany my Iron Warriors i have decided to build a super heavy.

however i came to a problem when deciding which one i wanted, so i am making one that will be modular and can be used as multiple variants.

The main reason this will be a scrath build and not a conversion of existing kits is that i feel that the baneblade etc, while all looking cool look too much Guardy...

So ive gone with a chassis that is about the same size as a Baneblade or Macharius (i dont know their exact measurements, just guessing) with a much more of a space marine feel to it, ive done the sides of the tracks to look more like a rhino or land raider.

to start with i am planning on having it count as a Baneblade and a Macharius Vulcan, with possibly more options in the future.

unfortunately i dont have any pics yet, but they wont be far off hopefully.

questions, comments ideas and suggestions are more than welcomed.

ok so here is what ive made so far, as i said its about the size of a baneblade and based on the shape of a macharius kinda

here is a profile shot

here it is with the modular section for a baneblade

and here with that removed

and finally with a model for scale purposes

my big issue is what kind of turret to use.

should i use

A) a guard shaped turret made in a similar fashion to the rest of the tank

:HQ: a turret based on an enlarged predator turret or

C) a turret that is basically just the weapon like a razorback?

thoughts?

Well, since you chose to build your own awesome chassis instead of converting because you didn't want a Guard look, I would stick with Marine style turrets. I think a Predator style turret for the counts as baneblade cannon would be cool. Maybe and artillery style variant as well, tipped up at 45 degrees.

at this stage my thought is a macharius style turret made to look a bit more mariney like the chassis as well as a more enlargerd predator turret with a battle cannon for the baneblade equivelant.

speaking of, does anyone have some measurements of a baneblade cannon? mainly length and diameter?

and also while im asking people questions, any thoughts on sponsons for the baneblade variant?

again try to just use some from a Land Raider (with H bolter instead of Lascannon) or try to scratch build some to like marine versions of the guard style sponsons?

im worried about the Land Raider ones as there should also be a Lascannon on top of the sponson and the Land Raider ones look far too flimsy for this.

ok so here is a pic of it currently,

its got the base that the different turrets will sit on and next i will build the big baneblade turret based around a large scale predator turret design.

can anyone verify for me the actual length and diameter of the baneblade cannon??

much appreciated

now then its taken a little while but here is the latest pics of my superheavy

as you can see the turret is based around an oversized predator turret shape.

it will sport a Baneblade cannon with co-axial autocannon when its done.

the turret itself will be able to rotate freely, but i am as yet unsure whether or not to make the barrel move up and down as it will take ALOT more work.

as always coments appreciated
