DIY Chapter Techamarine

Brother Fredrik

Recommended Posts

Well I finished my pledge for the Black Templar Crusade Expansion. Here is Brother Techmarine Burchard from my DIY chapter, Templars of the Golden Throne. Overall I like how he came out but I'm probably going to do alittle bit of touch ups. I also didn't have a chance to add scripture, flock or ardcoat to the model. I had to go visit family out of state and couldn't fit alot of my stuff in our tiny car and kinda forgot some important paints. :P But that'll get done latter. Any ways, here he is in all of his glory.

I'll add some more pictures at different angles later but homie is tired. ^_^ Comments and helpful criticism always welcome.

Edit:

@Brother Vespasian

Very nice especially the white. Can you get a better shot with more light please? I can't really see his torso or legs very well.

Thank you. I'm glad it turned out well. That took me awhile. I think it was 6-7 watered down coats. And I added some more pictures. Hope these are better! I know the lighting is crappy so I'll update these photos at the end of the month when I go back to my house where I have a nice, fluorescent lamp (go figure my grandparents don't have any  ).

Sorry for an unneeded post brothers and sisters. I edited my original post and thought it would bump it up to the top of the forum list. I guess I should have just posted the pictures in another post in my thread. Doh! My bad

very impressive. great paint job as well. btw the black templars are not a DIY chapter lol

He isnt running BT; he has BT shoulders, nothing else. Check the thread http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...=138532&hl= for info on his army. The Maltese Cross existed long before the BT, marines, or GW for that matter =p.

Wow, thanks for the comments guys!

Like Till said I'm running a DIY chapter I've come up with. But they do come from the BT which allowed me to join in the Expansion Crusade. Also all the fluff I've posted about the Knights of the Emperor please disregard. I really don't like how I was going with them so I came up with a more unique name (Temlars of the Golden Throne) and (hopefully) a better story line. I should be posting my general ideas today and when I do I'll post a link here if anyone is interested.

Thank you all again for the comments! If anyone has any ideas how I can do better please post! I'd really like to know where I can improve.

One place you could start would be thinning the metal areas down a good bit. Also it looks like you're starting with a brighter metal than maybe you should. You could sling some watered down ink on it, or some black wash. Maybe next time start with boltgun and drybrush with chainmail. Something you could try if you want is taking some black ink and getting it inbetween the rings on the slinky-like hoses. It will -really- bring out the detail. Last, always hit with a healthy dose of matte varnish. It will really bring the colors in line, smooth fades, and cut glare. It will be the best 30 sec you ever spent in the hobby =).

Still looks good in anycase.

@ Till

I actually did start with Boltgun, then Chainmail and a last highlight of Mithril. I'm actually not sure if I washed it with Black Ink. Looking at it I don't think so :P And for ardcoat, I'm not sure if I said it but I'm out of state and couldn't fit the ardcoat or my flock in the car so now thinking about it I guess I should've waited to post him in the 'finished' forum. Doh! My bad. Now should I try to Black Ink it before I ardcoat when I get back home or should I see how the ardcoat looks and then if I need to Ink it? Thanks again!

If you're going to use ink, ink first, then matte varnish. I think ardcoat = matte varnish =p. Ink will almost always leave a shiney finish, which isnt what you norm want. Times you what the shine, like with lights, targeters, or cameras, its better to go back with gloss varnish after the matte spray.

As far as not being able to fit an 11 oz can and small ziplock baggie in your car... damn, you must be brining every item you own, or you're driving in one of those tiny clown cars.
