The History and Legacy of Dorn's Betrayal

My vote is still for an unaligned, non-god specific force similiar to a cross between the canon universe word bearers and the red corsairs. They can be devoted to one god and be seen fighting in their name, but at the end, their mission is to destruction and not the glory of a single facet of chaos. Whereas the regular legion of the damn appear to bring aid to the imperium when it is needed, the dorn version appears to aid chaos.

Sorry to say, but the Night Lords will be very unlikely to appear in August. I have been struggling with a serious writer's block ever since the computer crash at home. ;)

The good news is that most of the ideas are there and just need polishing into a coherent article, and that in the last week that this mental block seems to be melting, and sections (such as the Homeworld one) are finally coming together.

So profuse apologies - and yes, I know that these delays are now a tradition ;) - but you will have to wait a little longer for the sons of Nostramo. :(

Best regards,

Aurelius.

Lol....so I'm on the train. Start browsing B&C to pass the time on my iPhone and see....

The History and Legacy of Dorns Betrayal as the top topic, last post Aurelius Rex and my heart LEAPS into my mouth as I think YES.....end of august.......Night Lords hoooooooooooo!!!!!!

Only to be dashed upon the bitter rocks of disappointment lol.

Hope the writers block clears soon mate, it's been a cracking journey reading it so far

Good luck

Sorry about getting the sides mixed up. I haven't read it for ages and had tons of assignments so I kind of forgot lots of stuff. Make the Fire Hawks undivided cause we already have Nurgle (Lamenters).

Ok, i just realized i goofed up the time line. In the regular universe, the Lamenter's get massacred by the nids after the badab war is over. So, if the time lines are the same in the dorn'verse, then my idea for them turning all nurgly only works if it happens after the Badab war. ^_^ so I guess that makes them an ultramarine faction. Still, I'm gonna stick by my vote for a non alligned legion of the damned.

i agree with having an unalligned legion of the damned.

In the DH, the Lamenters dont exist by the time Badab happens. in DH, they were completely annihilated at Prandium. So no Lamenters.

Where did you read that? It says that the Lamenters were founded with prandium as their homeworld on page 45 of the pdf, and that prandium was devoured during the second tyrannic war on page 46. But it does not say that the Lamenters were on prandium when they were annhilated. Unless I'm missing something.

Maybe the forces of Ultramar count them as destroyed. But they survived when they found a Gene seed stock pile.... Just so happens it was a Blood Angels Stockpile.

This would allow for the Lamenters to be Nurgle AND also have them Identified by the Ultramarines as a traitor force to be destroyed.

Besides, Corroded Damocles power armor would look sick.

Lamenters

regular version: unlucky Chapter, founded by blood angels, seemed to lack black rage, nearly destroyed by Tyranids.

Former Ultramarines Chapter that lost the majority of their geneseed when they were overrun by the Tyranids. A mysterious stranger appeared and offered them new geneseed to keep the chapter alive. This was done in secret so that the Lamenters could save face. Only when the tears of the Lamenters began to turn into acidic blood did they discover that the geneseed, in fact, was from the Blood Angels. When approached by Nurgle, the Lamenters, willingly submitted themselves, and received Nurgles blessing.

Today they are looked upon by their new "brethren" with disgust for having willingly sold themselves into service to the father of plagues. The Lamenters, however, seem barely to notice, as their have reaped only benefits from their new patron. Wherever they go, the Lamenters have enjoyed an appalling streak of good fortune that has sparked envy in their allies and the stark terror in the ranks of the Imperium and Ultramar Segmentum alike. In battle, the sight of their yellowing, pox marked armor inspires great cries of anguish and reduce hardened soldiers to sobbing wrecks. The Lamenters claim that these tears, mixed with the blood of their victims, has a unique taste.

Posted this a while back. I think it would still work.

Oh behalf of the Lamenters I think they should have a cure for the nrugles rot slowly eating all flesh, it sustains them (like normal marines) aka the blood angels who embrace it fully or the loyalists who openly embrace nurgle.
Calm down guys. Just play Space Marine (if you have it. Otherwise Dawn of War or the good ol' tabletop version) to cool your over eager nerves. Writing is hard, especially when you put as much work as Aurelius does into it. So be patient.

just came up with a question:

how do iron warrior chaplains work? the iron warriors despise letting passion overcome their normal battledoctrine, so what use is it having a fervent priest among them that wishes them to rip apart the enemy at every chance?

or do the iron warrior chaplains work in different ways, or are they the "black sheep" of the sons of perturabo, letting passion speak before logic?

hope that made sense to anyone...

oh, and what marks of power armour do the loyalists use?

I envision the chaplains to have a similar role to commissars to the Iron Warriors. Less of inspiring action and more of enforcing discipline and rooting out weakness. If anything, they might be some the marines with the harshest, coldest logic in the legion. The IW Chaplain corps would embrace the meat grinder in a way that is not suicidal but in a ruthless manner that helps to bring a siege to a close faster.

As for power armor, I see no reason why they would not have the norm-verse sets of armor for the Dornian Heresy Imperium. So up to Mark 8 would be available, not that all the legions would use the newer equipment. The Emperor's Children still uses the crusade/heresy era equipment because of their view that they reached perfection with it. The only legion that has power armor past mark 8 is the Ultras. The ultras have less terminator forces, or equivalent, as a drawback as I understand it.

thanks blackoption!

now, anybody know what titans the iron warriors would use.

i know they make their own, but would they be equals to the mechanicus own in terms of firepower, weaponry and class, or developed in wholly different ways?

what names would they use? i was thinking about using the names of greece gods, like hera, zeus and neptunus, or something like that.

and what about Knights? just super-heavy dreadnought patterns, or do they have their own agreements with some knight worlds?

i want to write a story of my own about a grand company deploying on an arctic hive world that's under attack by the space wolves, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
