Mentor legion Marine WIP

Recommended Posts

well apparently the ML have been sent out to assist the Crimson Guardians in heavy support so I made a heavy bolter guy, everything on him is nearly done except the white which is the gray parts, I wonder how to paint the white and I need to get a pot of it as well.

and you get a sneak peak at my Chosen asp. champ

Well, the green on the Mentor looks good, but the metals and the winged skull especially are a massive improvement over some of your older stuff. :tu: Your paints are definitely noticeably thinner, and your highlights are definitely smooth and for the most part in the right places (the crevices between the backpack and the exhaust node things seem an unusual place to highlight - if anything it should be darker), you should probably start either using a smaller brush or at least just taking more time with it. As for the white, for a color scheme like the Mentors', I'd've started with white primer in the first place, but from where you are (I'm assuming that's Codex?), I'd just go up to Space Wolves and then take it up to Skull White and give it a very light wash of Asurmen Blue. :)

As for the champion - not much to say yet, paintwise. Are the wings final, though? Because while the paint's definitely thinner, it still looks decidedly quite messy, especially on the bony "finger" areas - you got a lot of blue on the metal. Not sure if that was intentional or not... Otherwise, the conversion looks good... and yet it's somehow... eerily familiar...

Green looks decent. I usually prefer my highlights to be thinner. Try using a thinner paint brush. I might add a further highlight of 75:25 green to white on the outermost edges of the green armour.

As for the white, I'd probably do what Raz suggested.

I'm somewhat iffy about the wings; I personally think he could do without, but that's just my preference. I like to keep things simple and leave the cool-stuff for my characters.

He is done and the chaos champ is nearly done, I scrapped the backpack though.

Sternguard sergeant Ohmid put his helmet on and it sealed hermetically to his armor, this was going to be a long battle, his bronzed face dark mustache and coal black eyes were hidden in the emotionless helmet and he roared as he and his battle brothers rushed to confront the tides of chaos marines.

the name Ohmid is a Persian name for "hope" given to males.
