Hey guys. Been so long since I've been here. I just visited my mothers house where all my old minis still reside.

Couldn't resist taking some photo's some space marines I almost finished painting some four years ago. The minis are not 100% completed and probably never will be, just thought I'd share it with you all.

I haven't painted since.. makes me want to pick the hobby up again:)

Very close up shots taken with a N95.

I like the GKT. His base is rather desolate but I suppose that makes sense considering their purpose. Great sword btw!

The power fist fellow has a very detailed face. I'm guessing the flesh tones are not GW. How exactly did you make the forehead look like it has a slightly recessed look to it. Pic #2 of the PF marine for reference. I've made one marine with the shaved head look and it was neither clean nor easy. Suggestions?

The power weapon marine. The robe looks almost wet. The shading is large but I have the same problem on white tabards. It looks like you used a blue to fill in the recesses on the helmet. Why blue and was it an ink, watered down paint, or a wash? The power weapon has a nice metallic fade to it. I like that.

Anyway, nice to see your work and perhaps we might see more in the future?

For starters, thanks mate. It's been quite long since I've painted these guys (4+ years) so I can't remember a lot of the fine details, I'll try to answer them to my best knowledge.

Those flesh tones are from GW, what I usually did when painting flesh was that I would work it up from a dark brown colour, by very lightly (with very little paint on the brush) dry brushing it with several layers until it reaches a nice dark/light overall look. After that I would highlight the area's that stick out the most.

The shaved look is actually quite easy in my opinion, just dry brush it very lightly (with very little paint on the brush) and drybrush highlight it to achieve a nice overall look.

The watery look of the robe of the power fist marine, that's partly do to the lighting of the marine whilst the photo being taken and partly due to varnish.

The shading of the robe is because of working up to white from a dark base, making the transition from for example; brown to white, a lot harder to achieve gradually.

I used blue to fill in the recesses on the helmet because I thought it would look nice by having the blue return in the helmets, it was done by mixing ultra marine blue with a darker blue.

Then painting the lines with a very small brush and then coating it with varnish mixed with water.

Thanks again and maybe in the future, when I have more time on my hands, ill start painting again:)
