My IW project

I'm starting an Iron Warriors army and to keep myself motivated I'll post my progress here.

I also have a tzeentch-khorne daemon force that I'm working on simultaniously and might post some pics of it as well.

My goal is to be able to play an apocalypse game with my armies this summer, to keep me motivated I have made a promise to myself that I can build a brass scorpion when my two armies are finished. I love everything about walkers and building a brass scorpion is a huge motivator for me.

My 1750 IW list will be as follows:

Daemon prince, wings, doombolt

5 Terminators, h flamer, c flamer, 2 c meltas, 2 fists, IoCG

10 CSM, fist, 2 flamers, IoCG, rhino

10 CSM, psword, 2 meltas, IoCG, rhino

8 Berzerkers, fist, icon, rhino

7 Plague marines, 2 plasmaguns, rhino

Defiler, 2 CCW

Vindicator, daemonic possession

2 Obliterators

For 2000 points I'll add in a Land Raider and warptime on the prince

So far I've got the renegade strike force and a box of berzerkers. For those of you that don't know, the renegade strike force includes a termie lord, 5 termies, 20 CSM, 2 rhinos, a defiler, a vindicator and a land raider.

I'll start of with showing my converted 2CCW defiler:

And here's a berzerker that I tested out the color-scheme on. I think it looks good and will probably stick with it.

I'll post some more pics as i progress.

I like the Defiler conversion, simple but effective I feel.

The paint scheme is pretty cool actually, its more of a "stone" feel then the normal metallic you see, but still works just fine.

As for the army, it looks pretty balanced (the Strike Force is a great buy I think) but I'd switch the Champions in the CSM squad, to give you a anti-big thing squad and anti-little thing squad.

Thanks for the kind words :)

I think my camera distorts the colors a little, in reality the berzerker looks more metallic.

I wanted to show that my berzerkers and plague marines are IW that has developed a deep relationship with their god, thus keeping most of the original IW colors.

Because of that my PM will be painted really rusty instead of the usual rotten colors.

Here's their still WIP rhino to start with:

Hmm, the rust looks more realistic IRL :P

And here's some daemons:

Actually, berserkers are the perfect unit for storming the breach of said siege. There are always plenty of old warriors treading down the path of khorne one way or another. They fight all the time so it would hard not to.

I agree, once a viable breach had been established who would you rather your forlorn hope was, a bunch of blood crazed psychopaths whose only primary goals are to kill everything in sight never taking a step back, or basic foot slogging troops who will lose morale and flee if the going gets tough

Thanks for all the comments

I haven't had much time lately, been busy with fulltime school, part time work, training and spending time with my wife. It's hard balancing all those things and still get some models painted. But I find this thread help. Today I got some FW stuff and put together my Land Raider. i also converted a skull champion and painted some more berzerkers.

@ Belfast: The daemon prince is really easy to make, I just put a spawn head and some Lord of Change wings on and greenstuffed the gaps.

@ Son of horus: Yeah, I see what you mean with the rhino  I tried to go for a look that it's been slowly worn down over time but it does look too even. At least it's not as noticable IRL.

I forgot to mention that the IW are only TT without highlights, I put a little more time into my daemons but both armys are for gaming and I want to finish them before this summer. A friend of mine are collecting tyranids and we have a goal of 5000 points painted figures each to play with this summer. I already have most of the things, I just need to put together and paint it.

On the whole Berzerker/Plague marine debate. Berzerkers have a place in an IW army, and with the same logic I don't see why not some trench-specialists can't get a close relationship with nurgle. Especially if they have been using chemical and more importantly biological weapons. The thing to remember is that they are squads of IW that have dedicated themselves to a god, they're not World Eaters or Death Guard. These special bonds to a certain god would take time to develop and I only really see it happening with Khorne and Nurgle. Khorne is mentioned in the fluff, nurgle is just something I can see happen.

Here's half a squad of Berzerkers, skull champion with counts-as power fist:

I'm thinking about doing some more work on the axe. I also have to get some backpacks for them. I got the old 2nd ed in the box and man they're ugly..
