Ok so the 20 Grey Hunters and the Long Fangs are for my B&C Painting Challenge Oath, but while I'm at it I'm also painting up a Dread, 30 Blood Claws and when I get them primed, 5 Wolf Scouts. Here's some pics:

Wolf Guard Pack Leader Bolter Closeup, yes that's a chainblade

The Long Fangs and Dreadnaught are pretty much done save for sanding the bases. The Grey Hunters just have the primary shadow grey on and highlighted and the Wolf Scouts need to be primed. 60 Space Wolves... and I'm hoping to have them all done within the month, or no later than the Painting Challenge deadline if I get delayed.

Nicely done there Vash! *passes ale to Vash* Extra ale for the Lancer-Bolter too! *passes second ale* Now where did you get that skull on top of your Dread?

The skull was just squeezed into shape from a ball of GS. It was the last touch before I primed the model and actually came about from leftover GS from another conversion that I wasn't sure what to do with cause I mixed too much. I was squeezing it and rolling it around in my hand and randomly it turned out looking sort of like a skull so I did a little more work and voila! A few teeth, some damage and there ya go. To be honest I had to pull up a pic of a wolf skull to get a few of the details right but it wasn't as difficult as I'd imagined.

Oh and thanks for the ales, I'm glad you like them .

So far tonight I've gotten all the secondary colors onto one of the Grey Hunter packs, the red, white, black, silver, and brown. I'm currently taking a break before adding the final details, like squad symbol, Great Company symbol and other personal markings. Therefore I may have another update before the evening is through.

Here's a quick update, the 1st Grey Hunter squad is pretty much done bar some cleanup work and sanding the bases, here's some pics:

Also a small update on the Dreadnaught, did a little cleanup work and added some text and kill markings to his "loincloth" thingy:

Did you even eat or sleep? Or do you just paint the whole day and use the ale to fill ya up? ;) You just paint too fast for me.

I'm liking the scouts, I may have to make my own as well and whip out the tube of green stuff and take some of your ideas.

I like the chain blade, very cool! i like the red and markings on your warriors, it makes each one stand out. interesting dread! keep up the good work! have an ale on me :)

Well I won't be wanting for ale for a while I guess, hehe. Yea the red and yellow and white markings are my attempt to individualise the marines. The higher the rank the more markings they get. The Blood Claws will have none save for the Wolf Guard Pack Leader, the Grey Hunters have a decent ammount of markings, the Wolf Guard and Long Fangs have something on almost every main armor plate and helmet. It really makes the Veterans stand out and each marine to stand out as an individual hero of Fenris, at least I think it does and it's what I'm trying to convey.

Ditto on the chainblade. Very nice!

Thanks, it's an easy enough cutting job, I figured why not take True Grit to the next step? In the BT Codex it shows a power weapon attatched to the grip of a bolter, so I fixed a chainblade to the Wolf Guard's bolter. :D

Those Scouts are looking good! Keep it up!

And have some Ale from me too! *Passes some over*

The scouts seem to be a hit, I'm glad they were fun to make too.

I eat and sleep, I actually don't paint that much in a day, a couple hours but no more. Quick and dirty, speed painting. I don't exactly enjoy painting, but the end result is worth it. So I do like to get my models painted but they're quick and dirty, simple colors, simple highlights, no advanced techniques, lots of dry brushing, few layers etc. The end result is slightly better than tabletop IMO, won't be winning any GD's but on the tabletop the effect is nice.

I'm glad the scouts are liked so much. They're not that hard to do, just SM scout cc arms on normal PA torso and legs, GS around the upper leg sculpted to look like cloth. Tthen the packs are just balls of GS with bits attatched and a couple simple GS pelts. The Pack Leader has no GS at all.

Anyway I got a game in with the army today which took up most of the afternoon but I'm going to try and get the second Grey Hunter unit finished either tonight or tommorrow. Then I'll probably rough up the scouts and get the base colors on the Blood Claws. Keep an eye out for updates :).

Here's an update, some Fenresian Wolves, and two packs of Grey Hunters I'd painted previously but hadn't gotten around to getting pics up.

Still a lot of work to do. The Wolves are usually divided amongst the Battle Leaders, the Wolf Priest and the Wolf Lord. Gotta love the little wolfy companions and yes 3 of them are missing their tails, one of the disadvantages of second hand models. I went for a different look with the wolves from the usual all grey or black, it turned out alright IMO.
