Captain Juan Juarez
I bet they do the best take out... All you can eat Xenos whippings! Some great looking models in this thread, on a less "I think I'm funny" note.. Loving that dragon helm! Cedric
Work is proceeding as well as could be expected... aside frome one tiny hurdle; the dragon wings cresting the helmet. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z178/the_lord34/IMG_2264.jpg I'm at a loss of how to paint it and thus could use some input. Gold, green and red won't pop enough, I fear. I'm thinking of a dark blue for the membranes, light blue highlight and gold for the bony structures. Thoughts? Solid Zaku
I was thinking do a light green for the webbing, then drybrush on a silver for the actual 'bones' of the wings. Cedric
And... done! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z178/the_lord34/IMG_2268.jpg Perhaps I'll go back and paint the lesnes properly once I've gotten the hang of it. As it is, I have neither the brushes, feeling for how much water to use or fine motor skills to paint eyelenses. But still, it was a good exercise in painting blue. An idea that struck me was to paint the claws metallic blue, and then give them a drybrush of Ice Blue. As it is now, it's simply 3 different blues and a wash. mstersmith
Brother I would like to say your models POP! I mean you see them and the edges scream! My only sugestion is the speeder. The edges need a bit of high lighting. I really like them though. My buddy paints with a pearl paint much like this. The Black Watch
I wasn't sure the blue would work actually - thought there might be too much going on. BUT, I have to say it works perfectly and gives the model a suitable 'regal' feel. Good work. Cedric
@ mstersmith. Redoing the edges on the speeder isn't a bad idea, should I find myself in the mood for som tidying. I think a thin line of mithril with a wash or two might make the lines stand out more. @ The Black Watch. I wasn't sure of the blue look myself. But as they say, there's only one way to find out. :) Luckily, the lenses on sights, sensors and visors are already blue, making the addition of even more blue less of an issue. I've tried to keep the number of colours on my palette down in order to promote a uniform look. But a HQ is a HQ and thus entitled to some extravagance!
