Imperial Quad Bike

Galgaroth

Recommended Posts

This is my WIP Quad Bike. Although based around a chaos bike, I'll be using it in my imperial marine army.

It's meant to look a little techy to fit in with the army theme.

I just think something doesn't look quite right with it.

Any suggestions?

Also, this is my first post, so apologies if this has posted wrong.

only prob i see is theres no marine on it. I think ATV's would have suspensions that would allow the back wheels to be so far awaylike that. I like how the back set has an A frame to it, not sure if the front would natualy have one, i would assume you would know more then me, but maybe look at some pictures. also i think the front..things... look kind of odd. i would put some sort of frame there... you dont want to run over something and have blood and chunks get in youre internals.

to me though, these are all personal things, the mechanics of youre chapters vehicals could be differnt then other chapters, and will likly be vastily differnt then that of modern times

ok first off i would like to say that it looks great nice idea and conversion

but u asked for pointers so dont take offense if im sounding a bit harsh :P

the back wheels have longer suspension than at the back so thay are far further off the ground

i know its GW/imperial styley but quad bikes arent generically with hench mud guards so you could re think that

as war angel said the suspension would look better on A frames so that the wheels come out to the side of the bike (unlike a motorbike)

then the front looks a little dodgy so i think a bumper/mud guard/support bar would look good like at the fronty of this one Angry Johnnys first ATV link ;)

basically look at that atv (this one)(all credit to angry johnny ;) thats how i would aim the bike toward (with lots of guns on it too ;))

I think everyone is pretty much agreed, the wheels are too far back, and I have to admit that's clear to me now after looking at the pictures.

So, I've changed the back end and I'm working on the front now.

Withe the front, I'm going to have more of a play. Add the A-frame once I've worked out how to go about it.

I've been basing it around http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19357 and http://www.irondogstudios.com/tutor_ATV.html

But I thought they both looking a little under-armoured for my liking so that's why I added the plasticard mud guards.

I'll have a play around and then add some more pics in a few days.

If you do want bigger wheels maybe try the Ork Trukk wheels? Those are larger than the SM Bike wheels aren't they? I think the wheels that he has now will look the part if he fixes the fenders, they're making the wheels look smaller because they're covered. If he makes the fenders/cowling part of the body of the vehicle, it will make the wheels look bigger because they're not being covered.

Okay. After a few changes, here's Mk II. I've lowered the back and brought it in a bit. It's the same structure behind, but just smaller.

The back wheel is lifted up at the mo as the frame is now not a hundred percent square. I'm going to fix that by lifting the front right wheel when I base it and make it look like it's mid turn.

This is now version three of the front (I scrapped the last one) and I prefer it to the origonal. It seems to look like it has more potential movement in it, as if the bike really could steer and stuff.

There is now an A-frame at the front, that stretches behind the axises to the front of the bike body. It's just not visible in the pics.

looking very sweet.

my suggestion would be to add some armour plating between the front wheels. to make it look more sturdy and SM like.

do you have a rider yet?

would like to see how it looks together, i think that will help with the overall view.
