First turn goes to the mighty Wolf Lord Lars "The Great Devourer" Petersson

The Forces:

Space Wolves - Land Raider Redeemer (Loge), Venerable Dreadnought (Skwisgar Axe-Wielder), Ironclad (Torbjørn Ironfist), Wolf Guard Battle Leader with a Blood claw Bike pack+WG Pack Leader, 10 Grey Hunters in Rhino, 6 Grey Hunters in Razorback with TLLC, Predator, 2xWhirlwinds, Land speeder MM, 2xLand Speeders 2xHeavy Bolters - another WGBL, but I can't remember which unit he was with :-D - 1998 points

Eldar - Avatar, Seer Council with Eldrad, Howling Banshees, 7xWarp spiders, 10xWraith Guard, Dire Avnegers, Path Finders, Swooping Hawks, Fire Dragons

The Sons of Fenris prepare for the crucible of war:

The cowardly Eldar try to hide from the Emperor's Wolves:

Space Wolves Turn 1:

Loge, the Land Raider Redeemer, cruises ahead to meet the enemy head on closely followed by the venerable dreadnought Skwisgar Axe-Wielder:

Loge unleashes the fire of redemption upon the cowrdly Warp spider and 4 of them are granted the Emperor's Mercy.

Skwisgar Axe-Wielder let's his Auto-cannon sing the song of death and wounds the foul deamonic manifestation of the Eldar's god.

Elsewhere, The Blood Claw bikers move up amongst the ruins and prepare to launch a bloody assault on the Eldar Fire Dragons. the Land Speeders with HB/HB load-outs fire away at the distant Dark Reapers and send the whole unit (4) off to Slaanesh. The other LS + Predator take out a Wraith Guard each, IIRC.

The humble razorback fires it's Twin-Linked LasCannon at the foul Eldar Avatar but fails to hurt it. I can't quite recall what the mighty Iron Clad Dreadnought Torbjørn IronFist did, but I think he took out a Fire Dragon with his melta gun.

Eldar Turn 1:

Eldar Avatar runs out and fails to hurt the mighty Loge. Truly the Emperor Protects his faithful. The foul Fire Dragons move out and fire their melts at the you Blood claws who are all sent off to the hall of Russ or to dream the red dreams until they can be tended to be the Wolf Priests. Only the Wolf Guard Battle Leader and the Pack Leader remains. The Dire Avengers move through the terrain but can't fire at anything.

the Warp Spiders move forwards and immobilise both land speeders and take down one Heavy Bolter. The seer council and Howling Banshees mill around ineffectually while despairing at the sight of the mighty wolves.

Space Wolves Turn 2:

The remaining Bikers and Torbjørn IronFist fired upon and assaulted the Fire dragons. A decisive victory which led to the Fire Dragons running like the cowards they are. They were promptly run down by the mighty wolfguard bikers. Torbjørn IronFist Consolidated back towards his starting position.

Loge rumbled forwards and yet again unleashed the fire of redemption but this time at the approaching wraith guard. I can't remember how many were swallowed up by the manifestation of the Empror's Wrath. The mighty assault cannons spewed death at the eldar avatar and took another wound from the foul daemon.

The heavy bolters of the immobilised land speeders took out the remaining three Warp Spiders. the melta LS and Pred each took out a wraith guard IIRC.

Eldar Turn 2:

The Avatar moves up to Loge's side, the seercouncil and howling banshees run around the building to get to the mighty war machines bearing down upon their foul god. Wraithguard lumber ahead up the corridor of death while the dire avengers march upon the two bikers, seemingly secure in their numbers:

The Dire avengers let loose with their blade storm and cut down the brave wolfguard pack leader.

The seer council throws their spears at Loge, but their pathetic weak limbs flail about and fail to hurt the might warmachine. The avatar shoots and assaults and like the rest of that misbegotten race find that it cannot harm those under the Emperor's Protection. The wraithguard marh onwards and fire at Skwisgar Axe-Wielder and a lucky shot manages to disable his mighty powerfist.

The wraithguard then show the folly of their race and charge into combat with the mighty Skwisgar. Skwisgar laughs too hard at their patheticness and only manages to kill one of the weak xenos:

The Swooping Hawks launch an attack at the one of the whirlwinds and manage to destroy it. I was slightly suprised to find that the Eldar can actually hit vehicles that don't move :-D

Space Wolves 3rd and final turn:

Loge up in front of the seer council and lets loose the holy promethium. Most of the fould xeno leaders die and some of the howling banshees are consumed by the fires of redemption as well. the Bloodclaws pile out and incensed by fure at the desecration of the mighty Skwisgar, the Wolf guard Pack Leader, Ranald Grimfist smashes the Eldar Avatar to the ground and destroys the daemon. The Land speeders with heavy bolters fire on the remaining Howling Banshees and send them to Slaanesh (nom nom nom). Torbjørn IronFist lets out a mighty roar and rushed to destroy the Wraith Guards:

At this point the store announced that it was time to pack up.

We realised at this point that we had completely forgotten to put down objectives :-D

My friend also briefly admitted that yeah, there was no way he could win this considering how badly outnumbered he was at this point.

We were on a pretty tight schedule as we knew we only had about an hour and a half to set up and play, so I didn't manage to get as many pictures as I would've liked.

All in all, my wolves performed pretty well, apart from my whirlwinds who all missed, time and again...

My two Grey hunter squads never left their vehiclesand didn't actually do anything :-/

Loge the Land Raider performed exactly as I have come to expect from it. Those flamestorm cannons are wonderful against Eldar.

My opponent, learned the hard way to stay out of range of my flamestorm cannons and heavy bolters.

He made, IMO, two big tactical mistakes.

1) The avatar should've assaulted Skwisgar Axe-Wielder and totally ignored Loge.

2) After immobolising my two Land speeders with HB/HB he should've avoided the open stretch that ran all the way down the table.

Other than that, I get the feeling that he doesn't have a coherent strategy and doesn't plan his army as a whole, but instead just picks units that can do well individually, whereas I pick my troops like a wolfpack that can back eachother up.

One unit wounds an enemy and another rips out it's throat.

It was actually one of our most fun games as it was very fast paced and the atmosfere was very pleasant.

It was our first time playing in a GW store on a games night, and our fear that it would be full of awkward nerds with no social skills was thankfully unfounded. Completely different from what the store is like on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon.

there was one odd guy though, who was standing by our table for a while saying what our to hit and to wound rolls would be and quote out what weapons did and how rules (i.e. rending, pinning and so on) worked. A bit weird, but hey ho...

Great evening, and definitely something we'll want to do again...

nice going. good to see that the eldar are kept in check.

random question(any one feel free to answer this): i could be wrong, and probably am, but should one of the heavy bolter landspeeders have been destroyed? i thought that vehicles in squadrons, apply the results to one vehicle till it's destroyed, or if one i immobilized it is destroyed, out right. just an observation, i plan to run a similar landspeeder squad and would actually like to know how that works(i don't have my HBRB on me right now  ).

Sounds like a solid victory, worthy of an ale. It does seem that you opponent didnt know the strengths of his force though, and should have put up a much better fight. Firedragons vs Redeemer would have been his best bet. A bit of mobility and vehicles would have also done him well. But his apparent lack of understanding the principles of war is no reason to let the vile xenos scum live

Aye, it was :-)

I do try to help him by giving him advice about how to better pick his army and how his units should back each other up...

We're gonna have a match where I take control of his Eldar and I design a Space Wolf army for him to guide and control :-)
