Custodian Athiair
i have read up to the Legio Mortis crossing the border in Mechanicum (no spoliers please) but it mentioned very near the begginning that the Imperial Palace was built on the tallest mountains in the world which are the Himalers arn't they so why does all other sources does it say that the Imperial Palace was built on Europe. just that so please explain thank you Athiair :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/ Share on other sites
Skirax
Think about this rationally. Britain is located in the north, is it not? Ok, 40,000 years of non-stop Tectonic plate shifting causes mountains possibly bigger than the Himalayas are raised. Or, Maybe Europa was moved, you never really know. I know the Cloning Facilities on Terra where the Primarchs were born are under the Himalayas. No idea why. But as it says somewhere (pardon the vagueness) 'The Great Wall of China can be seen from space, the Imperial Palace, home of the Almighty Emperor, can be seen from Mars.' maybe it refers to the palace being a mountain or like a mountain range. I can't imagine GW being setup in the UK then deciding 'I know! Lets put the Imperial Palace next to a squalor country half way across the world!' Sorry, I just dont see it. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1886385 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Its built from the Himalayas. In the third edition rulebook it took up the majority of China.... AekoldHelbrass
Emperor origin is Turkey, Anatolia. It is Europe. Also, GW likes to speculate with bible names and stories, and Ark is somewhere in Turkey too, on some mountain, I can't remember it's name. Primarch Corax
It's in Europe, because GW is a European company. Sorry, was a European company. It's stupid, simple, but it's probably why they put it there. Hyrion
In the Codex Imperialis stands the Imperial Palace covers most of Europe but is built from the Himalayas Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1886528 Share on other sites
Sons of Horus
the primarchs were made on a lunar facility you know, not under the Himalayas. the Imperial Palace is indeed in the Himalayas. 40k years won't change the landscape much since that would take millions of years. most of the change in geography is from undersea volcanoes and global warming. the Himalayas won't be in Europe by the year 40k. Dyp100
It's in Europe, because GW is a European company. Sorry, was a European company. It's stupid, simple, but it's probably why they put it there. Why you prefer they put it on America? ;) And BTW, on that logic, they would put it on Britain, not on mainland Europe! So, it was built from the Himalayans, which would have been massive, since all the proper seas dried up, so it's like an EVEN BIGGER MOUNTAIN. Grand Master Tyrak
There's a map of Terra in the main rulebook showing the locations of the palaces and stuff. I can't remember the page, but I believe it's in the first part of the fluff section. randian
Emperor origin is Turkey, Anatolia. It is Europe. Turkey is not part of Europe. More revisionist Islamic history. Inquisitor Engel
The Palace proper is located in the British Isles, not Turkey. Indeed, the Golden Throne is located directly over Lenton (current location of GWHQ) according to an old WD. Grand Master Tyrak
Conor The Great Posted Today, 01:30 AM wasnt the earth raveged by a succession of Nuke wars?Dont you think 40000 years of constant war would change a planet? Yes - we know for sure that the oceans have boiled away. If the Palace is located in Britain (I wish someone would check the rulebook and end this debate), they are certainly not "The British Isles" any more Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1887415 Share on other sites
jakiwis
Emperor origin is Turkey, Anatolia. It is Europe. Turkey is not part of Europe. More revisionist Islamic history. Isnt Turkey's location in the middle of Asia and Europe? I know it's called a Eurasian country. Nothing revisionist with it since it does have parts in Europe and definitely not Islamic about it. Grand Master Tyrak
It is both. The Western half of Turkey, particularly the area on the far side of the Bosphorus Straits, on which side Istanbul is located is definitely in Europe. The Eastern half is definitely Middle East/Asia. The two geographical areas are not mutually exclusive. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1887568 Share on other sites
Custodian Athiair
i can't check my rulebook at the moment it is a 3 hour drive away but at the moment it seems that it spreads from the far East to Britain that is a huge expanse of space i dought that it covers that much becuase then no one could live anywhere but the Imperial Palace thanks Athiair :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1887721 Share on other sites

Octavulg
Some sources say it's at the Himalayas (this appears to the direction more recent sources have gone). Older sources put it smack in the middle of Nottingham. Take your pick. Captain Engelhardt
actually it could since all the oceans boiled away leaving tons of space :) Nope, the oceans boiled away during the bombardement of Horus. Dyp100
THAT is actually a big debate. Apparently all the real oceans boiled away, but in the GC they has mini-replacement-oceans, think it says it in one of the HH books. Captain Engelhardt
Yeah..I know, hmmm..I used the "Attack on Terra" piece of fluff...no idea if this is the right title, I only own a German copy :) Here's something else: http://www.shroudfilm.co.uk/hhmap.jpg This is the map of Terra from the HH boardgame, it shows the palace as well as other stuff. On TGC there was a big discussion about it, here's a quote for you: Judjing by the place names in the Lightning Tower, the Outer Palace takes most of Nepal - it mentions the Kath Mandau Precinct (i.e. Kathmandau) Annapura Gate (the Annapura are a set of mountains around 100 miles to the West of Kathmandau) the Brahmaputra Plateau (the Brahmaputra is a river that joins the Ganges to the South East of Nepal) and the Karnali Delta (the Karnali is a river that starts in Tibet, flows through Nepal, joins the Ghaghara river in India, and eventually flows into the Ganges roughly 150-200 miles south of Kathmandau. Hope this helps ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160767-imperial-palace/#findComment-1888468 Share on other sites
Child-of-the-Emperor
Emperor origin is Turkey, Anatolia. It is Europe. Turkey is not part of Europe. More revisionist Islamic history. Isnt Turkey's location in the middle of Asia and Europe? I know it's called a Eurasian country. Nothing revisionist with it since it does have parts in Europe and definitely not Islamic about it. As i know it, Europe is both a political entity and a Geographical entity. Turkey is in the Georagphical Europe, and politically (only because Istanbul is just west of the Bosphorus therefore a tiny bit of Turkey being in the political Europe.) and Geographically isnt it Eurasia? :D And as i read it the Imperial Palace takes up the entire Northern Hemisphere. and the Golden Throne roughly where Nottingham used to be, being GWHQ? The only info i can find atm is here We also know that the Primarchs were created on a Luna base, on the moon, not under the Himalayas And That the Emperor retired to the Imperial Dungeons when he left the Great Crusade, which are known to be below the Himalayas. The Dungeons are also described as being "Beneath the Imperial Palace".
