Legion of the damned for Conflict Scotland

Hi everone

 

Yes, yes another little log. Though I'm ment to be spending time with my Deathwing for this log.

This new project going to take over for a short amount of time.

 

This time I'm making a small 500pts army for Conflict Scotland this year, which will be a double events held in Glasgow. So team up with my friend from last year & this time his Space Wolves instead of his Blood Angels.

This being case I though it be nice to start another small army like my last year. Basicly I built a Deathwatch Kill team theme force & got them fully painted in a mere space of three days from start to finish.

 

This year, going to theme my Marine force on Legion of the damned.... no real reason other than it cool & for pass few year I alway though of collecting a army theme of those of the damned force.

So what better time, also mean another little project.

 

The army going to be for myself of the team

 

Troops - 10 Space Marines, with Plasma Gun & Missile Launcher, veteran sarg has a combi Plasma

Fast Attack - Land Speeder (because I have one in my bit box) w/Heavy Bolter

Heavy Support - Land Raider w/Extra armour. Just because it would look cool with all the free hand paint work

 

While my friend Space Wolves will be

HQ - Termies HQ

Elites - Termies unit

Troops - 8 Grey Hunter with stuff.

In case no one notice with a few the models, I try to convert some of the backpack. Basicly useing the Skull nozzile from the Dark Angels backpack onto normal Space Marines. Just DA once have a bit to much DA Icon, also I just like cutting & converting my models

Want to try & use this art work for some more idea (eg: carry fellow brother Marine) though might just use this as my loot counter/object marker

If I do go ahead on use this art work for idea for my object marker, think I may base the Marine on Space Wolves since I'm team them up for Conflict Scotland.

Orignaly the Land Raider was going to be for my Iron Hands, but since they went all Drop Pod. That & also I had the Land Raider kit sitting in my room for so long as it was a x-mas present. But be a shame not to use it, also just look cool painted in Legion of the Damned Colour to be honsty.

Not sure what part I cut off here, if anyone got the 3rd Ed kit & able point out. Again like the LR, this speeder been in my bit box for some time waiting for the right time to be use (got it from the Raven Wing box set so pretty much free).

As for conversion, cover it in bullet holes, has the Heavy Bolter guy standing up, make a cool looking base.

 

I'm going to try get some more Marines built latre today & I also hope to spend some time tomorroe getting some painting done. One thing that keep me off the Legion of the damned army was down to painting the flames just right. So going to give it a try.

On that note here a Legion of the Damned model I made two year ago when I was thinking of collecting LotD back then, idea was to use the Robe bodies to mark out Vet Sarg/bodyguard, though they do not show rank though be a cool little theme, no idea if I will carry it onto this new force or stick to normal Marine power armour

So until next update :) In dedicato imperatum ultra articulo mortis (For the Emperor beyond the point of death).

Also hope some point in the future to make this into a all out army of Legion of the damned theme Marines.

But for now I will simple get this lot all built & aim to get them fully painted in a mere two days, hopeful as long as nothing pop up in real life.

anyway, I think i'll bookmark this, maybe once you're done, you should make an entire 2500 point LotD army, that i'd like to see *smile*

Sorry, if/when I get around to getting my Legion of the Damned theme force will only be up to 1500pts like all my other armies :D

Also here my Land Speeder, I had to buy a new one as the spure shown above was missing parts needed for the overall kit. Got to say I preffer the 3rd Ed land speeder spure (shown above) when it came to putting it together.

I will finish building the models tomorrow, to tired right now as it been a long day. Painting wise I am aim for Thur or Fri the latess to get this whole lot painted & so there out the way for the time being (lot of other project on the go right now)

Edit:

 

Land Speeder will be getting a nice base done when i got the energy. Like wise the Vet Sarg (Combi Plasma) will be given a Chainsword arm.

Will also aim to get some counter made for the army as well base upon the art work of the LotD carry the fallen Blood Angel.

First up not really starting painted the army until Tue due to a commission work I got. But during break of the commission I've been prep my Legion trooper so there ready for Tue

Then my Land Speeder which I still need to paint with Chaos black paint & highlight. The base for the Speeder from my Deathwatch Kill team speeder from last year Conflict Scotland event, just to lazy & got a lot on to try make a new base for this speeder to be honsty.

I still need to make some counter for the mission in the rule book with d3+2 counter. Thinking of a pile of skull with a Tactical Marine banner with flame painted on them, well see I'll plan out on Sat when I am in my local GW.

 

Next update should be on Tue when I should have all these models painted or that least near finish. Then I wait until the 19th of April for Conflict Scotland double tournament.

Little update

 

I was orignaly aim to paint my 500pts Legion army yesterday, but this has change to Fri due to going to my local GW to pick up the Conflict rule pack along with a possible try out or me & my team mate list. Also just due to other thing that where needed to be painted yesterday for other project.

 

However I did mange to get a few Legion trooper done, but will not be finish until Fri

I still got some detail to finish off, but I got just under a month (Conflict Scotland is on the 19th April) & I might paint some more flames on my army of the Damned near the time, well see.

But right now the army that a good stage where my time/focuse can now go into other GW projects ;)

 

Also another little perview in my forth coming Space Wolves project base upon 300, still WIP. Aim to work on this unit tonight & try get them finish/ready to paint as of Tue & hopeful start of that project log ;)

That's a great-looking force!

 

I think, at some point, you should get a picture of the combined army and the Conflict Scotland battles you both appear in, would be great additions to the thread!

Dark Angels Veteran Sprue, one of the Backpacks has a pair of skullsfor vents, he clipped them off and added them to his marines, as the DA version has a little too much DA heraldry on it...
