Wow, I'm stickied...I have finally made it! ;)

Stoopicus, I don't have anything metallic planned right now but no doubt something will be added in the near future so I will do a step-by-step likewise I will do the same for the few 'spare' GK's I still have to paint as I use exactly the same technique. The simple fact I dont even know what 'preshading' is strengthens my claim that anyone with imagination and a few basic techniques can achieve half decent results. vehicles are simply undercoated black, Tamiya metallic grey applied, then miniature paints silver, that's it!

I don't really have an adopted approach I just go with what feels right on the day and the subject so some instances I can work the highlights from the middle sometimes from the edge, after the two base colours are added I sometimes run some black down the 'joins' just to tidy things up and add a little depth, literally about 20 minutes to this point for a raider. That is all airbrush, from this point forward I line, blend, detail, using the good old Hairy stick

Anyhow, been sprucing up some scenery I bagged from Ebay before Xmas, table is clear now and I can get some army shots sorted, will post over the next couple of days

This topic is easily the most impressive gallery of GK modeling and painting anywhere on the internet. I've added it to the Online Resources topic stickied at the top of this forum.

Bulldog's work is usually the most impressive gallery of any sort of modelling and painting on the internet.

That is, bar the work of large teams such as all of the Nottingham crew getting together to assemble as much board space as my flat every year in preparation for Games Day, or the guys who somehow managed to assemble a 1/6 scale Nazi railway station in full operation. For those people it's a day job, but where on earth does Bulldog get all this disposable income to spend?

Doesn't have to be as expensive as you might think, scratch-building and second hand ebay bargains can go a long way!

Anyhow, Few pics of the combined GK so far. Excuse the poor quality, weather and light has been terrible here lately, if someone bumps into the sun can you ask him to come back please!

I will be adding more......soon as we get a new Codex!

hmmm, just noticed, why have I based the assassins on green when the rest are on grey?!?

Well, I thought I had finished but realised there was another dreadnought to be had!

It actually made sense to do this as my original Dread was a rescue from Ebay, pre-assembled with weapons glued in place so my deployment options are limited.

Had an old AoBR dread amongst a bunch of stuff I got of ebay a while back so stripped the paint and used the legs and weapons to go with the few extras I ordered from FW with the main body. Chucked a few bits n bobs in from the bits box too just to make it look a little more 'grey knighty'

Anyhow, finished model gives me a lot more configuration options now so all is well and good!

I was a little bored with the usual Latin names and feeling a little too lazy to run upstairs and browse through the ref books for inspiration, as a result I present Dreadnought 'Terry'!

A little creation of my own using a couple of leftover inferno cannons from the raider kits

'Roast n toast' variant useful for flushing 'em out!

amazing work brother could you enlighten me how you made that titan? or is it a FW model? cause i havent seen it on their website

It's general shape is built from the Reaver Card templates available online, about half way through building you simply have to let your imagination take over!

Thought I better update this thread with the latest addition to the GK's, Stormraven reporting for duty SAR!

Little fella is finished...another one ticked off the list!

Quite straightforward this one, couple of days to build, day to paint and a couple more days to make up the costume jewelry such as the DN, troops and base.

The army can be checked out here The Tinfoil Terrors few pics below of current project

General size comparison between Thawk and the Sraven

That is the best StormRaven conversion I have seen yet. Brilliant paint scheme on every model.

How 'bout a step by step constuction tutorial on the SR.

#1 It's Bulldog UK, of course it's the best you've seen on the net.

#2 Basically get plasticard, lots and lots of plasticard when ever you request a tutorial from Bulldog UK and prepare for that step by step to have many many steps.

Another one from Scibor here, I figured it would make a nice addition to the Greys, I just added a few GW extras like the seals and laurel on the chest plate. Got the new 'Templar SF knight' on it's way too, great for heroes!

Ouch.

I have only two complaints...

1 - The flying GK, well, I don't think they should be attached to the Thunderhawk. Otherwise, they are beatiful.

2 - The character is slightly cluttered, the base is overwhelimng, and the hammer is too big. Again, otherwise, it's beautiful.

That's the only complaints I had in the entire thread. If my forces of Chaos were defeated by the like of you, I would honored simply to have fought you.

Dark Apostle Thirst

Ahh, I see Tyranid carapace on the knees. Sneaky, Bulldog, sneaky!

Excellent work, by the way. It does make a fine addition to your knights!

Not guilty, the knees came with the model!

It's the ordo malleus, order of the hammer, the hammer can never be too big

Hehe yeah!

They aint on the TH, they are on the Stormraven, hopefully we will get jump troops in the new codex and I reckon this is the way I would like to see them entering the fray. Sky surfin' into a Deamons face is what they do best :D

I tend to agree on the base, never been a fan of these big faffy bases but it came with the figure and being a tight fisted Yorkshireman I hate to see anything go to waste. I was originaly going to put him on a standard base for practical LOS gaming purposes but then thought, meh, he's an Inquis his job is go round hurling insults and liturgies from the nearest high point while dodging enemy fire!

QFT

He's beautiful, painted up to your usual standards.

Did those kneepads really come with the model? They DO look an awful lot like the tyranid extended carapace bit.

I swear on the Emperors wrinkled old testicles that they are standard. Only thing I added to the mini were the seals and the wreath on the breastplate as I thought it looked a little bland and couldn't be arsed to paint anything on there, shame on me and my lazy ways :D
