Imperial Fists

@ Khairney - Honest its tiny-ish, although I'm convinced its part monkey. Caught it hanging upside down at 5 am when I was watching the Grand Prix qualifying, trying to kick the hatch open at the top of its cage.......

The libbys armour was based with a dark blue (forget the name), painted with enchanted blue with steady layers of Skull White mixed in and painted where the most light from my lamp fell on it.

@ Grindgodgrind - thanks man

Got most of the base colours done on the Vanguard Vets over the past couple of days so I could play my first thousand point game (the vets were classed as just normal assault marines

And the thousand points semi painted so far, excuse the camera shot, I had to use the flash so all the colours look way too bright

Played against a vicious Dark Eldar army at my local GW, got beat 6-4 with me having a couple of real bad rookie mistakes (teleporting terminators way too close to big hovery vehicles with witches on board)

Man of the match award goes to a lonely tactical marine who managed to take down a Ravager/Raider with a single bolter shot after the rest of his squad got cut to pieces, and to my dreadnought who was my last model standing despite taking a pounding from dark lances all game!

Next up is a tac squad, assault squad, jump pack chaplain and a predator for 1500 points

I pity the sm tasked with removing that threat, that is one huge hamster.

Back on opic, your imerial fists are just awesome, especially the fist on the rhino, if you think you can do better than that i will watch with avid attention

And while this isnt the 'tactics tips' page, personally i wouldnt deep-strike your termies, in my experience they never arrive on time, when they do finally hit the deck im doomed already, and they then get targeted by every ap2 weapon on the board and all the pw, and thats one expensive distraction, especially in 1000points

but they look immense

Thanks for the advice, I've learned my lesson about termies and drop pods! Although they did help in my game yesterday where the podded down and took out a squad of lootas that were causing me immense pain! (How many dice rolls!!)

@ Khairney, i'll get another pick of the scouts up, they have only been base coated though.

Couldn't get to sleep last night so decided to see if I could make some Devastators out of my bits box. I'll either use them as a stand alone squad or as swap ins for my tac squads. First time ever attempting to do conversion work so let me know what you think

Pretty nice conversion work, it's pretty obvious what each weapon is and theres no dodgy its i can see.

i dont need to tell you to watch the mold lines on the legs cos you havent prepped em for painting yet ;)

i would suggest though, even if you dont normally drill out your barells that you do these guys, as they are very promenant and the lascannon has already a void, to leave the others solid would be a bit jarring i think

all in all, very nice, especially considering it's your first !

@ Karitas, thanks bud, yeh there is some mold line removal and a little bit of filler to do, good shout on the barrel drilling, I'll need to find a bit small enough (and an alternative to my hammer drill, that might do a bit of damage!)

@ Terminatorinhell, the white body of the lascannon was made from two engine block heads from a model car glued together, the barrel was from a side sponson from a Predator and the rest of the bits were spares from the Predator/Landspeeder sprues.

Woot, came first in the painting competition with 80% of the total votes!

Got some standard Bikes yesterday and had a wee play about. Still to attempt some GS'ing on it but fairly pleased with how it's turning out so far

Started painting the Predator as well, I'm going to try and copy the freehand from the Rhino door on the hatch on top of the turret

Did some work on the first of the bike squad today, and tried out a slightly different highlighting technique. Unfortunately the paint went on quite thick again after a few coats (damn Iyadin Darksun!!) but let me know what you guys think

Thanks Karitas, if only I had your conversion skills, my attempt at green stuff finished in a blob stuck to my desk and zero on the model!

Did a bit more on the bike today

Hopefully get this guy finished so I can make a start on the other two before the Call of Imperium starts proper

After looking at Karitas' thread I thought i'd try my hand at painting on the shoulder pad symbols instead of using transfers. They haven't turned out quite as crisp as I'd like them too (the fist is supposed to be the same as the one on the Rhino door)

Done the face, chest eagle and dashboard on the bike as well

Hopefully after a few shoulder pads I'll be able to get the symbols looking uniform and smoother. You cant really see in the picture because of the poor light but half his face is scarred and purple, i'll get a better pic when the sun comes out.

Your painting skills are outstanding, especially given the scheme of the IF's.

I am concerned with the gravity-defying belt feed on your heavy bolter dude, as well as the D-rings on top of the lascannon. But those are my only issues.

Welcome back to 40K!
