I am watching this thread with great interest. For the cut down chaos pack flamer tips might look good with the little nozzle bit cut off

Have you put any thought into how you are going to do heavy weapons?

I'll have a look into this. Sounds like a feasible option.

As I said before, I tried to do a similar thing to my Bolters, with a Lascannon and a Plasma cannon. I used the Terminator Heavy Flamer Arm for a basis, but it still looked way to bulky in the end. I've decided that Heavies will be the same as they always are. I just might add more cables and 'techy' stuff to them. My Disciple (Sternguard) variants are going to have reinforced shoulders on the Weapon side, just to differentiate from my regular Tactical ones.

I would remove the cabling completely, and use guitar wire or something similar to trace a new path for it.

A bit like this maybe (shamelessly promoting my own work):

Or you could turn the vents a bit so they face backwards. Then the cable doesn't end up in the vent grill anymore.

It's looking good so far, keep it up.

Good god Brother, I'd sell my soul to Chaos to have a smidgen of your skill!

I recall seeing your work earlier, and I closed the page for my shame, lol.

I may try your ideas, although I might water it down a bit, given I'm not as talented as you in the bionics department.

The backpack examples aren to hard, just bend guitar wire around a small round thingy (file handle for example) untill it's the right shape and glue it on.

You're doing a great job on the Black Hand guys already.

Hey guys, sorry for the late update.

I've finally gotten the rest of the first Tactical Squad built, and all but 4 of them are in the painting stage of things. I've also got my first Predator primed, and all things are go for my COI entry.

Here's an image of the COI portion of my force:

- Tactical Squad w/ Plasma Gun & Plasma Cannon, Sgt w/ Ravager Chainglaive (Power Weapon)

- Predator w/ TLLC Turret and Heavy Bolter Sponsons

Here's a close up of the Predator:

Another image of the Sergeant, with two of my un-primed marines:

And while I have yet to post any real Fluff about my Chapter, I'm going for an Iron Snakes approach to squad layout. Each Squad will have a Sergeant, Banner Bearer and an Apothecary. In game terms only the Sergeant means something, but anything I can do to add character to my army is good for me.

Here's the Apothecary:

And finally, here is some progress on my Plasma Gunner:

I haven't done much to him since I last mentioned it, but I consider the shoulders pretty much completed. The rims might need a bit of a Badab Black wash, but that's it.

I made the mistake of trying to paint the main armour before doing the metallics. Only after did I realize how much of a mess they would create. However, now that the Metal is done, I'll repaint the main armour, then highlight.

You can't see it from this image, but I've painted the right Plasma Gun the same as the shoulders (It needs cleaning up and washing though), as I found that there was too much Black going on. This will be alleviated somewhat when I paint all the green glowing parts (eyes/lenses, plasma coils) and the purple wires, but I'll continue to try making the Guns lighter for a bit of contrast.

Hey guys, just a quick update tonight.

I've made very little progress on my Tactical Marine, for which I am quite ashamed. I've been working on other projects when I should be concentrating on my COI. I now have a month to finish my Tactical Squad and Predator, with only the 1st Marine nearing completion.

I've finished both his guns, and the main armour colouring, sans the last highlights. All that really remains is to paint the glowing eyes and plasma coils, and the base. The rest of the squad is fully primed, and I'm ready to begin the base metallics and armour coat.

I'll be getting back to that after I post this, another of my projects.

I've currently commissioned Brother Beork to make my a rather spiffy Pedro Counts-As, but until it's ready, I've made another model to represent him. It's magnetized on the weapon arm, so I can use him for another character when my commission arrives, so I have no problem using him later on.

Here are some close-ups of his Bionics and Fist:

I know the Bionic foot looks kind of botched. I spilled a little glue on there, and it's now obvious to me that my attempts to shake off the excess have failed. I'll try to fix that, lol.

And finally, a mug-shot, because he's so bad-ass.

Anyway, back to the drawing board.

Peace,

Hey all, time for a shameless bump!

While I have no progress to show (My Camera informs me that it is busted...), I have a few things to say:

For one, I've dropped out of the COI; I simply don't have the time available at the moment to paint (I'm pulling extra hours at work to save for my house deposit). I'll continue working on my army though, at my usual slow pace. Watch this space for my planned list(s), updates, and a few other projects.

Secondly, although he's been at it for a few weeks now, my good friend Brother_Beork is creating me my Chapter Master (Counts-As Pedro or Sicarius, with magnets). You can check his thread Here.

Until we meet again, peace.

Indeed, been working on it a few weeks and I fear it will be a few weeks more. But I'm having more time on my hands as home projects are finishing (assuming my girlfriend won't think up more..) I also really need to finish it before september as I start a phd-student position then <_< Happy me :P I'm officially smart now.

I'm planning to have it done sooner though.

I like the count as model, it's a bit rougher than what I do, but it will look very good once painted.

mweh, weak is the wrong word, they are quite strong as they convey perfectly what you want.

A bit less subtle than mine, and maybe less technical (if that is the word to use), but that's a matter of practice and they are still good conversions.

You should simply practice more and then you could start catering to the needs of the australian gamers.

With regards to the heavy weapons, have you seen this? There are quite a few underslung weapons in the army, so take a look at the others as well. (I'll just point out that its not mine, although I wish it was!)

And I love the bolter design, I've been meaning to try out some conversions like that for quite a while.

My main problem, Beork, is that I'm quite clumsy when I convert something. It takes me quite some time to achieve what I want, and my Greenstuff work is very sloppy. As much as I'd like to cater for my local community, I just don't think I'll be near that level of experience any time soon, lol.

With regards to your post, Hastatus, I originally had some Lascannon marines converted exactly like that. However, it only seemed to work with a few weapons, namely the Lascannon and Multimelta. Everything else looked too out of place, especially the ML. The Plasma Cannon was way too bulky to be underslung, and the HBolter could probably be achieved without the use of a Termi arm.
