Vadskær
Great models !! Love your red, how did you achieve it ? Thanks a lot @eurieus :-) The red is based off a black undercoat, on top of which I paint several thin layers of the following: - Scab Red - Shade with thinned Chaos Black (wash consistency) - Repaint with Scab Red - Build up to Red Gore - 1:1 Red Gore & Blood Red - Blood Red - Blazing Orange - Vomit Brown Cheers! /vadskær Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4158186 Share on other sites
Vadskær
Good Evening Guys, I did it! Two weeks, from start to finish (which is very fast for me). He was a blast to paint, with crisp and gorgeous detail. I painted him in quite a bit of sub assemblies, as usual, and kept the colors as close to the 'Eavy Metal scheme as possible. Really pleased with him, feel like some brush control is once again on the rise. Enjoy! :-) /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5524_zpswi61zgsx.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5540_zpsrscy96sq.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5545_zpswj1wl0ca.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5562_zpssdoys8tw.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5557_zpsynfqwsuw.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5572_zpszvgjrlvr.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5586_zpshehjuxrn.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4158193 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
That mini is a gorgeous sculpt. I love your blacks and the purple is so deep and royal. May I ask you how you did the black? Dosjetka
Great work, as always, Vadskær. The only nitpick I have is that the transition between the folds in the skirt (:P) and it's surface could be smoother and/or less contrasting :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4159346 Share on other sites
Vadskær
That mini is a gorgeous sculpt. I love your blacks and the purple is so deep and royal. May I ask you how you did the black? Thank you very much @GrandMagnus :-) The black is quite simple. I highlight it with the following: Mechanicus Standard Grey Codex Gray Fortress Gray A final point of 1:1 Fortress Gray and Skull White on a few choice spots :-) Nicely done, brother. Some good painting and photography skills there. Thanks a lot Brother, always good to have you visit here :-) Great work, as always, Vadskær. The only nitpick I have is that the transition between the folds in the skirt () and it's surface could be smoother and/or less contrasting Thank you very much Dosjetka :-) Yes, they do look sharp! I think it is because the lighting when I take the pictures - they don't seem so sharp and contrasting IRL :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4195035 Share on other sites
Vadskær
'evening Guys :-)As usual a period of silence happens whenever life strikes again with school and work, but I managed to finish a new Chaplain yesterday - he's from the Reclusiam box, and I just new I had to get my hands on him when he came out. I snagged him off eBay since I didn't have use for the rest of the models in the box. It was a frustrating paint job, not all the details were as crisp as I could have wanted, and I didn't feel I performed to my best with the paint job. But all in all, he turned out okay. Let me hear what you think of him :-)Cheers! /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5599_zpsf3fq1uht.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5608_zpsvk5ftxfk.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5609_zpsfsjyixcv.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5616_zpsfn7ecqvx.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5620_zpslu6wrr4g.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4195040 Share on other sites

Dosjetka
Despite your own criticism of your work, I think he looks good. Vadskær
Goodmorning Chaps :-)Back after only a month and a few days - is that a recent record for me? ;-)I finished my first Space Wolf yesterday, and it's none other than Krom Dragongaze! I had a mate from Britain bring him over, and boy was it a fantastic model to paint. I tried to stay true to the 'Eavy Metal scheme on most of the model. Very pleased with how he came out - especially his face! Enjoy him!/vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5631_zpszvzwi7gz.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5638_zpsx1nzrcbg.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5644_zpsw2dglnmi.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5651_zpsyrqav3lu.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5661_zps0b8kuydi.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5671_zpsgn0vquvc.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_5681_zps1nuljxfh.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4232509 Share on other sites

Urauloth
Krom looks excellent. Love the way the face turned out! All the crisp detailing and fine highlights across the armour and wargear really bring the mini to life, too. The fur looks great, which colours did you use for it? Dosjetka
I hope that you're keeping the people at 'Eavy Metal up-to-date with your painting. I think they might want to reconsider their past choice of not adding you to the team ;) Stunning job. Those highlights are so crisp. Vadskær
Hey Guys, Long hiatus again - seems to be how things are going along, but painting is still my passion. Just not enough time between work, life and school. Thanks for your kind comments, very very glad you still follow and like what I paint :-) Krom looks excellent. Love the way the face turned out! All the crisp detailing and fine highlights across the armour and wargear really bring the mini to life, too. The fur looks great, which colours did you use for it? Thanks Buddy! I went for the recipe used in the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass book where they paint up a Wolf Guard with lightning claws. Do you have access to it? If not, I'll get the recipe for you :-) I hope that you're keeping the people at 'Eavy Metal up-to-date with your painting. I think they might want to reconsider their past choice of not adding you to the team Stunning job. Those highlights are so crisp. Alas no, I haven't been keeping them up to tabs. I think that was a one-shot for me, since I'm not in a position anymore to move to Nottingham. But still, the honor of being amongst the final 6, and sitting next to Joe Tomaszewski whilst painting was the best. Alright, something new to show you. Not my best work, by far, but still a fun project. It consists of two old metal models that have been sitting partly painted in my big box of to-do projects for some years. I had to strip them of paint, which was moderately successful, and combined with the kinda old sculpt and not so sharp details created some challenges paintwise. So there are small flaws, irregularities and so forth. Even so, they still look quite dapper ;-)Not much conversion done - just a few bits. On the captain the metal sword was short and thick, so off it went to be replaced by a plastic blade. His head is from the new Ultramarine upgrade frame and the backpack is from the Sternguard kit. On the champion I swapped the short blade for a plasmapistol and put a spare backpack on him.The base is from Scibor. Gents, I present: The Twins :-) http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6431_zpsukaacca2.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6437_zps4rhvbbq6.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6441_zpsznuk0lzq.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6448_zpswb9vgi3q.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6452_zps52dos9n9.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6458_zpseyp4f5ck.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6464_zpsfido1ken.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4312913 Share on other sites

Vadskær
Thanks Guys, glad you like them :-) Started on a new little diorama - a duel between a Space Marine Captain and one of the cultists from Dark Vengeance :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4318128 Share on other sites
Vadskær
Good evening Chaps :-)Well, kinda scratched the diorama I mentioned above. I couldn't get the base to fit the two models as I wanted, and it really took a lot away from both of them, as they really stand out when viewed from the right angle, but not so much only from the side on. So, here they are, both of them, but separate:Ultramarines 4th Company Captain and Dark Vengeance Chaos Cultist Both fun to paint, no conversion work at all! I kept the Space Marines base quite simple, as there was quite a lot going on already. The Cultist got a little more elaborate base to complement his muted color scheme. Enjoy :-) /vadskær http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6505_zpspkgwpntn.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6509_zpsw5lyxulc.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6515_zpsjav44pl8.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6539_zpsfcd3mys0.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6527_zps9cxjlkeg.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6534_zps2fwxhb8y.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6479_zpstojc60cr.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6484_zpsarz2e8do.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6491_zpszpeqlcrj.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6495_zpsoptbw8sa.jpg http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/vadskaer/IMG_6499_zpsxnbwtcti.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164659-vadsk%C3%A6rs-marines/page/32/#findComment-4366485 Share on other sites
