Scout Sniper
Hey everybody, I'm getting started on my entry for the Calls 'cause I might not be around for the official starting date. For my pledge I said I would paint 5 units of Space Wolves. As my painting has improved since I painted my original SW I decided to do some weathering etc. this time round. Without further ado here are the test models: Test Grey Hunter http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0705.jpg http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0706.jpg http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0707.jpg Test Vehicle http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0710.jpg http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0709.jpg http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0708.jpg As you can see I haven't weathered the gold - I just can't get it to work. In fact I posted in the PCA questions forum asking for help on this. Hopefully I can improve on this on the rest of the models. lord_bunny
I replied in your help thread... They look very nice, try giving them a faint black wash, to give them shading and to increase the worn affect, it will really improve them, and its an easy thing to do :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165634-call-of-the-imperium-mkiii/#findComment-1949709 Share on other sites
Scout Sniper
I'll try that on the next model. BTW I forgot to mention that CC is welcome and appreciated. djkest
I'd just like to echo the previous posts, you need a dark wash to give some shadows to the model. Otherwise, it looks like 1 solid color pretty much. Also, the weathered look is good, except it may be harder to see from a foot away. Also, according to fluff don't the space marines take meticulous care of all their equipment? Scout Sniper
Time for an update. The test model is washed, the gold is weathered and it's starting to look good. Pity that I have such a bad camera, or these pictures would be much clearer: http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0712.jpg http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0713.jpg A comparison shot with a basecoated marine: http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww270/miskellybones/DSCF0714.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165634-call-of-the-imperium-mkiii/#findComment-1960927 Share on other sites
