And why is everyone saying he is just an upgraded human? There were adults who became astrates, the BT still do this from time to time

Because the process of turning an adult into a marine creates a an inferior marine, they're smaller and have less muscle mass the a true Astartes. The Captain in Decent of Angles is an example of one and, IIRC, Zahariel nearly pities him for it. In Angles Darkness Astelan actually says the Luther wasn't accepted as an Astartes due to being elevated after adulthood and many of the Dark Angles wouldn't have folowed Luther If Astelan hadn't endorsed him.

Luther, because in the end he may not have won a straight out sword dual, but who said anything about swords being the only weapons.

Lucias was a self inlatted astarts with sword dualing skills.

luther was a man who compeated to be better than a primarch and didn't whine when he failed. He commited heresey after he felt that man had abandoned him.

Luther is my vote

Lucius was one of the only long-term survivors of the world called Murder.

If you asked me a month ago who would win, I would have looked at you like you had just asked me if ice came from frozen water. Now that the new IG codex is out, I would have to reconsider.

Lucius the eternal can probably not kill a summoned greater daemon in one round of combat. Guardsman Marbo can deep strikes, kill your whole terminator squad with his demo charge (new and improved AP2!), beat a fighting game, have a quickie and still have time left over to knife your greater daemon to death in the very next round. It's appalling. Lucius cannot run and accurately fire a heavy bolter. No space marine can. But Guardsman Harker sure can.

I guess my point is that astartes either aren't as powerful as we've been told, or we've all been had by the propaganda.

Christ...not one of those 'ZE GODS! EETS ALL PROPAGANDA AND LIES!' people...

Anyways Luther would win this. He could take on a Primarch in combat so he is not that weak.

i thought (again, remebering the rules, funny how they get forgotten), that this was a PRE-HERESY fight??? so no uber chaos skills for luther.

Especially since a post heresy/chaos power acquisition fight would be moot as if you think about it Lucius is just about the most powerful being alive as whoever kills him becomes him, meaning that except for maybe the emperor who could overcome Slaanesh's treachery, even a primarch would "lose" to Lucius in the long run as they would just turn into him. Actually come to think of it that would have been a fun rule, make Lucius a 1 wound model but if he is killed in CC whatever killed him becomes "marked" and can turn into Lucius on a roll of 4+ at the beginning of each ensuing Chaos turn, would be fun but guess it's best not to overthink GW fluff :)
