mordo
As i mentioned on the tutorial threads a friend has traded me FW blood thirster , it came with no horns or weapons so i decided to make it into angron after seeing the awsome work of a guy called Regluc11 (i hope i spelt your name right dude) as you can see here it took alot of work to get rid of all the green stuff left on the model http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370102.jpg this is where i have gotten to so far, i have made a new weapon for angron's Black blade to replace the non-exsistant axe and I am planning to have the other hand pulling up a marin by his robes (the is once i learn how to GS pulled robes http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370113.jpg this is a closer look at the Black Blade made from placticard and greenstuff http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370114.jpg the original idea for this was based of Ren Tao's (from an anime called Shaman King) Kwan dao http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370111.jpg luckily enough the wallscroll is on my wall so i always had the reference to hand once i get the bitz from a friend i plan to give Angron dreadlocks covering the space where the wings connect (not a fan of the wings) EDIT: sorry i forgot to add a picture of his face with a new tongue and lower jaw http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370117.jpg any C&C or advice is always welcome  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/ Share on other sites
Danny Cyanide
Good start! You did well on the new jaw! This is such a fun model to paint! Good luck! Sons of Horus
the scale isn't too good though. i mean that thing's too big to be a Daemon Primarch :eek other that the size you're doing great. mordo
thanks Danny, the jaw was made from the jaw off the Giant sprue, cut down and layered with GS Sons of Horus: after reading the decription in WD 344 (uk) it said he was a muscular giant and I plan on having him with his Bloodthirster body gaurds so in my mind he had to be bigger than the GW Bloodthirster but thank you for your input Edit: New pictures... using a helpful tutorial i did Angrons's blade and shoulder pad with a wailing souls effect http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370129.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370130.jpg personally i like the ghostly blue but as i said before C&C are always welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1959085 Share on other sites
Biohazard
I think the blade could do with another wash to tone down the blue and make it a bit more subtle, as for scale as far as i was aware the closer these guys were to sustainable warp energy the more powerful they were plus the rules of the warp mean they can make themselves 50 storeys high if they wanted imo. I think its looking good still doesnt scream Angron to me but its still early days. Liking the Defiler plate though! Nicely done :P Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1960050 Share on other sites
Hal
The only thing I'd say is that the faces on the blade need shading like the shoulder pad (which looks awesome btw). Fausto2071
the souls on the blade look sort of cartoony, the plate however looks very very good Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1961524 Share on other sites
Terrible_Trygon
thanks Danny, the jaw was made from the jaw off the Giant sprue, cut down and layered with GS Sons of Horus: after reading the decription in WD 344 (uk) it said he was a muscular giant and I plan on having him with his Bloodthirster body gaurds so in my mind he had to be bigger than the GW Bloodthirster but thank you for your input I believe there was also a picture. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n285/S_Mawa/Angron.jpg This looks promising. And you have made a good start already. Though I am not a fan on the blade. I guess I am too accustomed to Angron's demonic chain axe. There has also been another attempt at making Angron off this model. http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/2092/sl702980sv7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1961699 Share on other sites

mordo
hi guys and gals, Thanks for all your input, seeing how this is my first W.I.P i am glad to be getting alot of positive feedback thanks for putting up that link Birdie, that was indeed the one that i used (although my free hand sucks compared to it) Terrible_Trygon: thanks for putting up that pic it makes it so much easier to see why Angron should be so big, and just so you know that model was by Regluc11 who was the insperation for this convertion Update: all the current plates and straps are now primed i will be doing the soul armour scheme on those aswell. I am currently waiting on some bits at the moment which i should have by tomorrow, i have also found some of the last edition Blood letters so i am going to paint them up to stand on Angrons base... if anyone has any idea on what to do with the base i would be glad to hear as i am not normally someone who base thier models alot (other than painting industrial plating on them) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1962467 Share on other sites
mordo
hi again guys (and girls) sorry i haven't updated in a while i lost my broadband for about 2 weeks but so far i have painted all the armour with souls and now have tubing on his head http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370176.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370175.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370173.jpg i have also added a gun on his arm as i noticed that it has one on the picture in white dwarf too (again i nicked the look from Rugluc11 http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370174.jpg and here he is standing next to a half built Blood thirster for size comparison http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370168.jpg i am also repainting the blade as i felt it looked too toony as Fausto2071 said as usual C&C are always welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1973840 Share on other sites

Drudge Dreadnought
Honestly i'm not digging the weapon. It just seems to small for him and he's holding it too close to the top. The pose is that of him about to make a large sweeping swing. It'd work better if he was holding it even lower, but really i think he needs a massive chainaxe. The rest is excellent though. Constantine.
I like how it is coming along. I do have to agree with Drudge Dreadnought though.... the weapon is a little small. You could have it double ended, that would be interesting. other than that can't wait to see finished result. mordo
thanks for the feedback guys, just wondering, what if i put the blade on the bottom and then put the staff part on top with a axe on the end... i really wanna keep the blade as it took alot to make it... and i like the look of it edit: To Berzerker Pezz... yep the Kwan dao was made from green stuff and plasticard, it was the first real use of plasticard for me other than pinning and scenery Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1974100 Share on other sites
Constantine.
Having the blade at the bottom and the axe on the top does sound really good. It would definitely look like a horrible bitch to fight. Dragonkin Arenis
Having the blade at the bottom and the axe on the top does sound really good. It would definitely look like a horrible bitch to fight. yeah, he need new rules, methinks  looking good, but I have to agree that the weapon looks much too small, maybe a demonic Chainaxe or Hellblade? either that or make a bigger Kwan dao... he looks big enough to have a large, bombed-out Baneblade/Leman Russ/Chimera/whatever on the base as well as the Demons crawling around... found this whilst looking around on Forge World: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/khornedpandh.htm 'tis a Khornate Demon Prince with a Herald, I think ol' Angry would look good with one, like he needs one, though <_< anyway, just my $0.02 -waiting impatiently for finished model Arenis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1974485 Share on other sites
Constantine.
"yeah, he need new rules, methinks " I was indeed looking at first impressions. I have indeed got the rules thank you. But in turn you could make up some sort of interesting rules and abilities of the weapon for just the odd fun match. You know if its a proper match its just there as a weapon. But you could use your imagination *big rainbow appearing* you could have some fun. mordo
Hi again guys (and gals) sorry i haven't updated in a while... i have been swamped in commisions and job searching, whilst i was gone i have made a base for my angron which has the FW Khone symbol on the front http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370198.jpg this is the reverse side so you can see whats behind the symbol http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370191.jpg This is Angron on his base with the little bannerwaver showing his allegiance to the world eaters http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370199.jpg close up on the banner http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370197.jpg and this is the size comparison to a normal Bloodthirster (all my Blood thirster will have their wings removed) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370196.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j268/mordo_namsoc/SL370200.jpg as you can probably tell this piece is mainly for show but will be used for a khorne apocolypes army As per usual C&C are welcome and to those who say i should change the weapon, I am happy with how it is at the moment, if i do decide to change it in the future i plan to use the Netheraxe from the Heresy range as it looks alot like the FW axe Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166341-wip-angron-80-finished-and-on-base/#findComment-1989324 Share on other sites
