Fave HH book and why?

Recommended Posts

No no it wasn't SM on SM action. :) It was all the remembrancers and other people in the theatre that went nuts and started killing each other, shagging etc. The Emperor's Children that were watching just got so lost in the moment that they lept from the balcony, grabbed some of the 'instruments' and began firing them like weaponry into the audience. And that was when they first started to use sonic weaponry and thus became noise marines.

there were many SM's in the crowd with the remembrancers. in fact they started smashing up the remembrancers as they had sex.

it doesnt say the SM's were having sex, but then again it didnt say they werent either ;)

only the first captains were on the balcony with Fulgrim.

god that was a good chapter, my eyes were like 50cent pieces the whole time. crazy crazy crap went on in that room.

I stand corrected, touche sir, touche!

Definitely Legion. I loved the espionage throughout the book and I thought the ending was amazing. I also really enjoyed Fulgrim and watching the Emperor's Children going from one of the most respected Legions straight to Chaos. I especially enjoyed the meeting between Fulgrim and Horus.

I really enjoyed Battle for the Abyss, and Flight of the Eisenstein.

Battle for the Abyss, between its perspectives, dramatic irony and the story itself creates this narrow, small conflict in a rather large universe. Its not really a legion versus a legion, more like the strategies of one marine being tasked with meeting the strategies of an unknown enemy. Simply, it really reminds me of movies like Star Trek 2, with this very small, but important personal battle going on.

Flight of the Eisenstein was good because it presented a quickly changing set of circumstances from the perspectives of a few Death Guard. Fulgrim was the perspective in terms of a primarch, but FotE was more like how a regular marine would see the heresy, so you get this more 'humanized' view from the ground up. First, the legion is on fairly good terms, the marines all work well, the captains can at least play nicely, and then you get this sequence of events that builds to a true understanding of what the heresy is. Also, you could just pick this book up, or BftA, and just read them, you dont need all the sequence there. I actually had a hard time reading Galaxy in Flames and FotE at the same time because of the concurrent events.

I'm in the middle of Fulgrim right now. It's alright thus far (on chapter 12 right now) but my favorite so far is hands down Flight of the Eisentstein.Garro is just the man, and fully seeing Dorn made me overly happy. It was a just plain awesome book that i didn't want to put down.
Erebus is a prick

Just wait, you have no idea just how true this is. He only gets worse. I hate him.

The moves Lorgar, Erebus and the Word Bearers made were vital in their attempt to enlighten the Imperium from the evil of the dread Emperor and his tide of ignorance. Their means justify their goal, because their heroes.

spoken like a true son of chaos...

:wallbash: I've read til the tales of heresy and its getting harder and harder for me to choose the best because things are slowly falling into place. Though I still love Fulgrim for the way the setting and Fulgrim's slide to chaos was written in way that was not rushed. You get to fall into chaos with him. It was a long read but well worth it. Legion was also great with the way AL would get things done. Nothing beats the 1st 4 books because it starts everything.........argh! They are all good!

Fulgrim and Tales of Heresy have been my favorites so far in the series.

Fulgrim- Because I think the book cast him as a tragic figure who lost control of him and I was hoping that somehow Fulgrim's soul would claim his body back before he lopped off Ferrus Manus' head even though I knew how it would turn out. I also felt it was was one of the better written books of the series.

Tales of Heresy - This book was great because I enjoyed a brief look at many different points in the pre and early history of the Heresy. I especially loved the Space Wolves story!

Has to be Fulgrim. Because Fulgrim rules. Plus he kicks a Primarchs ass (twice) destroys a Wraithlord and kills an Avatar with his bare hands. :D

Fulgrim just has that tragic epic feel about it.

I wasnt a big fan of the ending of Galaxy in Flames because I couldnt quite grasp how long the battle between Loyalists and Traitors was going on for. Plus the fight between Abbaddon and Loken was a bit of a let down.

Negative, Fulgrim does not kick a primarchs ass twice. Fulgrim was losing his fight when the silver hands were unleashed. Ferrus Manus was going to win that until fate stepped in. Plus Fulgrim was being powered by a daemon the entire time he did these amazing feats. Without the daemon he'd just be a puddle of blood in an avatars footprint, or perhaps in Ferrus Manus's hands. Hes a badass to be sure but he did all he did with help from the warp and Ferrus died like a man rather than live like a dog. :P

True i was going to say ferrus had the beating of him. Shame more insight wasn't given to Ferrus' own state of mind though.

*Sniff* Couldn't have said it better myself...That was simply beautiful and deserves a moment of silence... -_- ..................Ok, now that that's over, FOR THE DARK GODS!

I really enjoyed legion because it was very different and it reminded me of a James Bond type of story, I just love that genre, and the conclusion is shocking beyond shocking. I also really enjoyed after Desh ea. It really gives insight into the World Eaters and Angron. Especially Karn, I always thought he was a blood thirsty killing machine, but now we see a honourable side to him, and it sort of seems like he has some control over Angron. I remember reading in Fulgrim that he is the Equerry to Angron and acts as his council, he also calms him down. I really want to see some character development of the great Betrayer. And we see the pain and misiery of Angron

If I'd need to pick only one, it would be Galaxy In Flames, purely because of the title and the coolest ending I've ever read. The bombing, the defiant last stand, the new Horus. I totally enjoyed the way that Abaddon shined in the end, and the way Loken died made me want to cry out of wrongness. That moment burned in to my retina. Also, Aximand's fall was a fascinating one.

But then, Legion and Fulgrim were also somewhat awesome and I enjoyed tremendously from both, too.
