Traitor Smurfs (Ultramarines)

Recommended Posts

finally, someone realised the Ultramarines are not Grey Knights, and can be turned. Did they realise turning left on parade is funner than turning right, and it all went down hill from there?

Good job, well painted yet still with an air of evil.

Could the Smurfs previously not turn left? Were they like Derek Zoolander? You have got them to finally perform "Blue Steel"... for that, the world is grateful!

On another note, I think they look great. Kit bashing for Chaos is always great, I did it for my possessed but they aren't as good as these by any stretch. I just love them!

Ultramarines have always been able to turn. In fact since there are more Ultramarine Successor Chapters out there then any other chapter, Ultramarines are likely the second biggest contributor to Chaos Marine numbers, seconded by the Legions of course. The reason why there is such taboo when someone makes traitor smurfs from the chapter itself is normally because (I think) they are a Mary Sue Chapter. All good, never faltering, awesome this, awesome that yaddy yaddy yadda. So people tend to treat them like Grey Knights when it comes to ascending to Chaos. Though the truth is that not only marines from successor smurf chapters have discovered the light of Chaos. Marines from the chapter itself have also been enlightened, and likely still are even after the 5th ed codex was published.

Again, I can't site my sources, but I swear I've read somewhere that most Imperial Citizenry doesn't know chaos even exists. All marines are benevolent guardians from beyond the stars. Also, waaaay back when, the Imperial Guard could have another commander - Cypher.

That would most likely depend on what planet they're on and if word of chaos have reached it's populance for some reason :)

In smaller units I'm sure these guys could go undetected by citizens of a hive, but they would not be able to walk around their own and live very long. Heck, an Imperial Commissar would even tell the difference, he would not confront them directly though seeing as they would still pretty much have authority over him (be it officially or unoficially), but most likely try to contact the Inquisition about it..

^^,

I think someone has made a large number of enemies today. The Ultramarines will descend upon this thread and try to purge these awesome models whilst this Space Wolf will watch and laugh.

Nice job!

Here here!

A purge is necessary indeed........A violent one at that lol

Although a traitor version of calgar would be cool

*nudges KolliIronbear*

:P

On topic: Nice models, i'll second the evil Calgar request

(less) On topic: Why do all smurf players think that smurfs are perfect? - I once got attacked (well, punched, kicked then jumped on) by a 9 year old because i told him Blood Angel's are awesome, and Smurfs arent... That was a fun day... throwing a small child over a table (in self defence!)

i like this alot. ultra marines are sooooo over rated i mean there the cover of gw. they need to give other chapters a bit os spotlight

to be fair though they were the biggest chapter after the heresy (due to their lack of losses)

but despite their size they dont have their own codex (unlike templars, DA etc)

I am an ultra player and do love them but i dont believe at all that they are perfect (although in the emperor's eyes they are :P haha)

but back to topic, doing an evil hero of the ultramarines ( calgar, tiggy, sicarius etc) would be freaking awsome!

i seem to remember a thread a while ago about what if the roles were reversed, like black leigon being ultra, dark angels being word bearers etc

i shall have a look ;)

Dude, they don't have their own codex because Codex Space Marines is technically Codex Ultramarines. It covers all chapters that use the Ultramarine Primarch's chapter model and is largely focused on Ultramarines and their heroes. Though if Ultramarines did get split away from the main codex, I can tell you now, thousands of Space Marine players would literally be praising Games Workshop on their knees.

Well, hopefully the tie-raids are over.

I am mulling over making a captain for this army anyway, and i thought "what the hell" let's make a chaotic version of Calgar.

Which means i have a request to make. I need a few pictures of the ammo feeds on that particular model. And i am going to use the raptor lightning claws as a basis... So i'd have to use converted bolt pistols in order to get the right length.

Still. get me pictures of Calgar's backpack and the ammo feeds to his gun, and i'll prolly start work on a chaos one in the next week or so...

Shiny.

Well, my version will be power-armored instead of terminator. I think it's from that one illustration of him sitting on a throne that got me thinking power armor. But that's what im going to do

a reason for 1 off the reasons for the ultramarines being the main chapter in the codex is that THEIR primarch created the codex

Wrong. Games Workshop wrote Codex Space Marines. :D

I am taking it from a Rule Book point of view and a joke. If Ultramarines got their own Codex most Space Marine players would be jumping for joy because that would mean the entire Space Marine Codex would be dedicated to the Chapters of Legend.

Eh the Crimson Fists were the origional Codex Poster Boys but got supplanted by the Ultramarines at some point. But yea like Trygon said if the Ultras got their own dex and left the vanilla C:SM alone there would be a much rejoicing, I know I would be anyway. :)

As for a PA Calgar I think I have a pic around... ah yes here:

Not the best but hopefully that will illustrate what you wanted to see.

The story from the Chaos codex referred to in this thread is about Constantinus the Liberator who was a Son of Gulliman, so a successor and not technically an Ultramarine himself. In any case, he took over the planet he was supposed to protect and became a Chaos Lord for a little while collecting various renegades and chaos marines to his side until the Imperium killed him. Oh and the models are great, I've always considered making a couple traitors from well known loyalist chapters myself.

Alright. I started work on this marine a long time ago and i never ever got him beyond paint. So what i've decided is he's going to go under the saws and the knives and the new greenstuff tools. And he'll be retrofit with a different version of the gauntlets of ultimar.

The gauntlets will be lightning claws rather than the powerfists. I'll mount converted pistols on the backs of the hands, and have a horse brush helmet rather than the horns. Etc.

Sunday i'll be tossing up whatever images i've got of that... and possibly another RaF marine... I need to paint the backpack, finish the white, and give him the Omega emblem and the arrow.

Fun fun!

In the interests of keeping this thread from devolving into questions about fluff, etc. I would love to hear ideas on how to dress up his armor to make him look a little more loyal. I am not uber great with greenstuff, but i can try.

You know, this marine makes me make sounds.

That is tremendous complement.

I can imagine

SQUAD! FIRE! FIRE!

and his missile launcher goes

BOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH
