Updates here (reply below) by Adepticon_Info.

Greetings from the Adepticon Council!

Adepticon 2010

It's been almost three months since Adepticon 2009, the largest independent convention in the Games Workshop miniature wargaming hobby. Almost 1,000 people attended Adepticon this last April and took part in the fun and excitement that has made Adepticon the standard for well-run miniature wargaming conventions.

Since April, we've been really excited about the direction that Adepticon is going, and we look forward to continuing our growth and expansion while living up to the excellence that has made Adepticon the "Can't Miss" event of the year for hobbyists across the world.

Coming in March 2010 - Adepticon 2010

Mark your calendars and start making your travel plans, because on March 26th-28th, Adepticon will return to the Chicagoland area! All the events that you know and love will be back, including our renown tournaments, demos, open gaming, hobby seminars, and the Rogue Demon competition.

In addition, stay tuned for more exciting announcements about Adepticon 2010.

Once again, the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center will host Adepticon, with great rates for all Adepticon attendees. Rooms will be available at the special Adepticon rate of $114 USD per night. This special group rate is only available to Adepticon attendees, and can be reserved through this link.

Help Make Adepticon Happen!

Our motto is "For Gamers, By Gamers," and we need your help to make Adepticon 2010 happen. Behind the scenes, dozens of dedicated volunteers make sure that Adepticon lives up our high expectations. Volunteers do everything from running and staffing events, setting up and breaking down the hundreds of gaming tables, building our world-class terrain layouts, marketing and spreading the word about Adepticon, and much more.

Can you offer one day out of the Adepticon 2010 weekend to help make this event a success?

Whether you're interested in helping out during the Adepticon 2010 weekend, or want to help during the year to bring Adepticon together, we want you to join our team! Physical location is (mostly) not an issue! No matter where you reside, you can do your part to help make this amazing event come together.

We're looking for fellow gamers and hobbyists who are willing to:

Pre-Adepticon:

Marketing/Communications

Sponsor Relations/Logistics

Event Planning/Design

Terrain Building*

Blogging

At Adepticon:

Event Staff - Rules Judges & Data Entry

Hobby Seminar Instructors

* Members of the terrain-building team must be able to physically attend terrain-building sessions.

** Volunteers for setup must arrive by noon Thursday, March 25th. Volunteers for breakdown must be available on Sunday night, March 28th.

Email us with your name, phone number, email address, and area you're interested in volunteering for, and become a part of making Adepticon happen!

Adepticon 2009 Wrap-Up

We're obviously looking forward to Adepticon 2010, but if you want to catch up on the events of 2009, stay tuned! The Adepticon 2009 Retrospective will be finished up in the next month and available for download from Adepticon.

Can't wait?

Wondering who won the various tournaments and competitions at Adepticon 2009? Check out our results page here.

Want to see the scenarios used at Adepticon? Check them out here.

And now…

…for something (almost) entirely not related to Adepticon 2010:

You may have noticed that crew over at the Bell of Lost Souls is putting together BOLSCon, on August 22-23rd. Several of us are planning to make the trip for what we think will the inaugural of a great event for years to come. If you can make it, we highly encourage you to attend and take part in the fun and excitement. Be sure to stop by and say hi!

AdeptiCon INAT FAQ v3.0

http://www.adepticon.org/wpimages/inat.jpg

The INAT FAQ v3.0 has just been completed and is ready for download! This newest revision to the INAT (Independent National Tournament) FAQ includes a fully revamped section covering the newest 40K codex: The Imperial Guard!

This version does not contain clarifications for the upcoming Space Wolves codex as it has not been officially released yet and the plan is to give each new codex a month or two in order to uncover and collate any pertinent questions that GW has not directly addressed.

The biggest change to this version of the FAQ is the removal of the ‘appendices’, which covered the Apocalypse and Imperial Armor supplements. As those rules are used in very, very few tournaments besides AdeptiCon, the appendix will now be a separate download which will be released a few months prior to the convention.

As always, any questions/rulings that have been altered from the 2.2 version have been denoted as such with a ‘plus sign’ ( + ) before the question # and have their ‘answer text’ colored red (just as with the 2.2 version) to make it easy for you to spot what has been changed.

A couple of rulings previously made in the 2.2 version of the FAQ have been altered/revised based on user feedback, so please make sure you take the time to quickly scan over the whole thing to see what has changed.

Further feedback for future iterations of the FAQ is always welcome and can be done so by sending us an email.

As always, thanks again to everyone who helped out this process by giving us quality feedback and constructive criticism, we certainly appreciate it!

AdeptiCon 2010 Registration Now Open!

It’s time to gather up your wargaming buddies and start making travel plans, because it is that time of year again!

Every year AdeptiCon has grown and added new and exciting events. This year we welcome two new game manufacturers to the AdeptiCon family: Battlefront Games (makers of the award-winning WWII miniature game Flames of War) and Privateer Press (makers of the increasingly popular Warmachine, Hordes, and Monsterpocalypse games). The AdeptiCon weekend will feature a full slate of events for Flames of War, Warmachine, Hordes, and Monsterpocalypse – including tournaments, seminars, and free demonstration games all weekend long.

Our lineup of Games Workshop events remains one of our primary focuses, as old favorites such as the 40K National Team Tournament, Fantasy Championships, Lord of the Rings Championships, and our lineup of Specialist Games events return. Our tournaments, open gaming, and seminars will continue to set the bar in terms of fan-run excellence.

Come and become a part of the largest fan-run independent wargaming convention in the country. For almost a decade, AdeptiCon has been the place where miniature wargaming enthusiasts from across the country and the world gather to enjoy the fun and excitement of a hobby that we all share. From our humble beginnings to today…our motto remains the same: “For Gamers, By Gamers.”

When we say AdeptiCon 2010 is going to be the biggest AdeptiCon ever, we’re not just speaking metaphorically. Our online registrations are proceeding at a breakneck pace.

Because of that, we are limiting the full swag bag to the first one thousand attendees who register on-line. Past contents have included novels, acrylic templates, one of a kind models, fantastic sculpts from some of the hottest companies on the market, tokens, templates, magnets, bases, discount coupons, and much more. We’ll be continually announcing the contents of this year’s swag bag as we get closer to AdeptiCon. This year’s swag bag will include :

Courage and Honour (Hardcover) by Graham McNeill

The noble Ultramarines epitomize the Space Marines, the genetically enhanced warriors who protect the Imperium from its foes. Newly returned from the Eye of Terror, Captain Uriel Ventris must redeem himself in the eyes of his battle–brothers, who fear he may have been tainted by Chaos. When the planet Pavonis is invaded by tau, what better opportunity could Uriel have to join his Chapter in combat and prove that his honour is beyond reproach?

http://www.adepticon.org/wpimages/2010/courage.jpghttp://www.adepticon.org/wpimages/2010/empire.jpg

Empire in Chaos by Anthony Reynolds

When Annaliese Jaeger's village is overrun and destroyed, she and an injured elf captive are the only survivors. As the two unlikely companions fight their way towards Blackfire Pass, Annaliese discovers within herself powers of courage and faith that inspire all around her. But when the Pass is attacked by the hordes of Chaos, Annaliese and her companions must fight alongside the Imperial army or the Empire will be doomed.

For over 20 years, Old Glory Corp has provided “Simply the Finest” miniatures, providing the gamer with a wide assortment of miniatures in historical, fantasy, pulp and Sci-fi, along with extensive accessories, all at a more than reasonable price.

At AdeptiCon 2010, Old Glory will feature their high density, pre-painted foam products, including our Dracula’s Castle and Castle System, some unique buildings and our new pre-painted 2' x 2' Terrain boards. The terrain boards come pre-shaped including flat sections to rolling hills, rocky outcroppings and boards that contain rivers and road sections. Old Glory will also provide free rule books in the AdeptiCon 2010 swag bags, including a random assortment from Cowboy Wars, Vampire Wars, Gladiator Wars and Samurai Wars.

Find out more about Old Glory at their web site www.oldglory25s.com.

Old Glory is also the licensed distributor for Blue Moon Manufacturing and Crusader Miniatures USA. Old Glory miniatures cover a variety of scales, 10mm, 15mm and 25/28mm, while their ships come in an even wider range of scales. Flames of War enthusiasts will love their two lines of 15mm miniatures for WWII, the Command Decision and True North Miniatures.

At AdeptiCon, Old Glory will be focusing on their foam products, but if there is something in particular that you want them to bring, just email them in advance at oldgloryshipyard@gmail.com and they’ll make sure to bring them with so that you can pick them up at AdeptiCon 2010.
