Thanks folks, I appreciate the comments... I certainly had fun putting them together.

*looks at ton of NIB chaos* "must not start fallen"

Amazing job dude i really want to start fallen now

thanks alot :P ^_^

LOL... I get those feelings all the time. IG/Puppies/World Eaters/Death Guard... so many toys, so little time :P

where did you get the large stabby sticks?

Love it :) Cathar the Great has the reckoning of it. The large stabby sticks do indeed come from the WHFB Chaos Knights. Also a great source for chaosy shoulder pads.

What legs are those on the termi lord/champ (the one with the Chaos Knights halberd)? I browsed a couple of bits sites yesterday to try to figure out the source, 'cause they look fabulous. Are they from the Chaos Knights box as well?

The legs on the Termi Lord/Champ come from the limited edition Archaon on foot model. I blatantly stole the idea from was inspired by Teethgrinder's Lord Kain.

Keep the comments coming guys, I appreciate them.

Cheers

And we're back...

I bring you The Morningstar. This is the first of my Daemon Princes. I cleaned up a little of the green stuff, but for the most part left it as it was. I also slapped on a new coat of paint where it was needed most. I think the 'ard coat may have been a bad idea cos its a little shiny, but it certainly helps separate the cloth from the armour.

Still, lets see what y'all think.

Wow, this is stunning!

I do not like every part of every model, but they all do spread a very strong atmosphere and seem to have all their own story!

I love conversions like that who don't look like the parts they're built of, but like completely new models.

I'm thinking they might be the most menacing Chaos Marines I've ever seen color scheme-wise. They'd scare me way more than the Black Legion, World Eaters, or Night Lords.... Quite an accomplishment. Somehow the vast amount of black and starkly contrast of bright red is much more effective than lightning or skullz or fire.....

"We don't have the time to record honors and try and scare you with Chaos markings. We have a slaughter schedule, and right now we're here to murder you and everyone you've ever known."

Hmmmm... not bad. I have only two criticisms:

1. You seem to have missed a lot of seam lines on your terminators, mainly on the weapons.

2. The hood and GS robes on the DP aren't bad, but the paint seems kind of splotchy. It gives it a nice dirty effect, but it looks a little too blotted on there for my tastes. Also, you should try to thin or wash out his highlights a bit. They look a little stark.

Other than that, I like em ;) Excellent job ;)

-Kal

Edit: Oh, one more thing  The DP's wings look a bit small for his body. Maybe going with two to three sets of the Changer of Ways wings? I've seen this nicely done before. Think Tyrael from Diablo ;)

I have to say the cloth isn't exactly tidy but it doesn't take anything away from the model. Also i like the shininess of the armour. Also, also i really like the herladry on the right shoulder pad; it shows that this now demonic beast was once a great warrior.

Grade A stuff!

Thanks for all the comments guys, I appreciate you taking the time to look at the models.

Give it a quick coat of satin varnish on the armour to take away that sheen!

Very impressive work though! :)

Ah... good idea. I actually think that's what I did when I painted the other Daemon Prince.

Incidentally, pics of him will be up soon, but he made a break for freedom just as I was finishing him about a year back, and he never recovered. I am still searching for the bits to fix his weapons properly. Check my WIP thread is anyone wants to see him.

Thanks TEC... That's what I was going for. Glad you liked them :D

Damn you sir *makes chosen chaos marines into Fallen*

there are you happy?

see what you made me do?!?!?!?

heh... Don't you hate it when that happens? :P

Come on... Make them into Fallen. You know you want to

Thanks for the comments

Thanks for the comments Kaldoth... great food for thought.

Yeah, i missed some of the mould lines - funny what you don't see till you blow things up under cameras. Sheesh!!!

I appreciate the comments on the GSing. I'm actually not all that happy on the GSing on this model, but let it slide for the sake of posterity. This model shows the first time I tried GSing other than for filling gaps, so its pretty rough. The GS work on the second DP is somewhat better... I spent some time revamping the worst bits (fingerprints, smugdes, bumps etc), but to be honest didn't want to have to completely re-build the model.

The changes I made meant I had to slap another coat of paint on, but, again, it was kind of patchwork - which probably gives rise to the splodges you mention - lol

To give you an idea, the model started here

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s106/widowmakerphotos/Games%20Workshop/Warhammer%2040K/Chaos/Marines/Fallen/In%20Progress/P1000840.jpg

and finished here (same photo as above)

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s106/widowmakerphotos/Games%20Workshop/Warhammer%2040K/Chaos/Marines/Fallen/P1020933.jpg

I only spent about 45 minutes making the changes, which could explain why its so sloppy.

And yeah... I've been back and forth on the Changer's wings... I really wanted them folded up like this, which took the Changer wings off the table unfortunately... I wish the Pegasus wings were bigger, but c'est la vie. I rely on the age-old excuse of saying "It's Chaos, they magically grow when he takes flight"

I have to say the cloth isn't exactly tidy but it doesn't take anything away from the model. Also i like the shininess of the armour. Also, also i really like the herladry on the right shoulder pad; it shows that this now demonic beast was once a great warrior.

Thanks dood515... I appreciate the comment about the heraldry... I was a little unsure when I started it, but like how it turned out. I was kind of going for the Hero of the Imperium laid low, so I'm glad it worked ;-)

Thanks again for all the comments folks. Stay tuned, there's more to come.

Cheers

  • 4 months later...

Greetings one and all...

OK, so it's been way too long since I updated this, but since I think I saw it briefly flicker on the front page, it reminded me to add to it a little.

Today we have the second Daemon Prince. If you check back to the WIP section you'll see this guy used to have the scythe and a sword. Well, he made a break for freedom a while back which ended with the scythe shattering (note to self - never use PVC rod in conversions) and the sword aking a header in my car somewhere. Still haven't found it yet. Given that the rules have changed a little, I figured an empty hand would work instead.

So, without further ado, I give you Azazel the Fallen.

That demon prince looks cool, what did you use for the head?

Thanks TEC - The head is the Space Marine helmet from the Inquisitor range. Actually this one is too - but obviously it has a touch of green stuff added.

Fallen Ravens are up next folks. Hopefully it shouldn't take another 4 months.

Cheers

Widowmaker

Alrighty... Squad 3.

I'm working up some Chapter Symbols for them, but they are tabletop ready just now. Symbols should be done in time for a group shot.

These are the work horse group... pretty much just standard Chaos Terminators.

Hey man theyre looking awesome!

Wheres that powerfist from?

Thanks The Damned - I appreciate the comment.

So, I have my Fallen Ravens almost finished... I think a couple of touch ups and I'll be able to take some pics and post them tonight. In the meantime, I took a quick "Fallen Family Photo" (Check out that for some nice alliteration there :D )

Anyways, like most hurriedly take family pics, this is largely out of focus, some of the guys at the back can't be seen, and I'm sure someone is pulling rabbit ears over one of the Daemon Prince's head.

Comments and criticism welcome (although there's not much to comment on, and the criticism I can think of would be "take a better photo")

Be sure to check back tonight by which time I should have the Ravenwing up.

Cheers

Alrighty, not quite as fast an update as I'd hoped, but with real life getting in the way and Photobucket doing routine maintenance what can you do?

So today we have the the Fallen Ravenwing. These are slightly less chaosy and slightly more knghtly. I figured that they would fall to the sin of pride and want to keep some semblance of their former glory. Not sure if it works, so I'd be interested in y'all's opinions.

As a group

Individually

The paint jobs were done a little faster than normal so are a little sloppy, but i hope you like tem.

Comments and Criticism (and yes, I need to drill the bolters) welcome as always.

They look great as always! I love the personal heraldry. Might steal the idea, at least for a Ravenwing sarge. Also, the variety of bike styles works well.

On a side note, I thought about this for some time, but how to Bikers keep their hoods up and on some perfectly? lol.

Awesome models mate, cant stress that enought but after seeing the discussion about those wings on yuor demon prince i remebered am awesome set of wings id seen before. after scouring the gw site i remebered them

Gulavhar, The Terror of Arnor

Those bad boys should like right at home on a demon price IMO
